Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet! Friday Afternoon at the Park [09/28].
As one might have suspected, the weather that afternoon was incredibly cooperative and pleasant, just the right balance of nearly everything. Funny how that always seemed to work out. And wasn't that fine weather just a perfect companion for all the decorations and tables set up around the park in anticipation of the weekend's guests, as well as for the impressive spread of food offered for those wanting a bit of a nibble.
There was, of course, glitter, but some might note that it was a bit more tastefully restrained this year.
A bit.
Stretched over the entrance to the park was a large, bold banner, leaving no question as to what all this marvelous preparation was for:

Registration - PW 2018
Re: Registration - PW 2018
In any case, he shook it off and turned sharply to look around the picnic, frowning as he scanned the crowd for Rufus. His charge (sigh) hadn't done his radio broadcast this morning, which meant he could be anywhere.
So help him, if he'd come all the way to the island just to find out that Rufus was in a different reality right now, he'd be so very put out.
Re: Registration - PW 2018
He squinted.
He shook his head. This damn island. The sooner he spent his time checking up on Iris (and Zack, though he'd never admit to it) and got to go back to work in Midgar, the better.
But first, breakfast, he supposed.
Re: Registration - PW 2018
He still hated this island. But it was good to see that Reno's chosen home at the moment was, at the very least, more baffling than his own.
Re: Registration - PW 2018
The individual behind the desk looked supremely unimpressed at her invoking the authority of the Empire and handed her a nametag that read 'Cute Imperial'.
Someone would pay for this.
Re: Registration - PW 2018
Re: Registration - PW 2018
He wasn't convinced, but he gamely put it on anyway.
Re: Registration - PW 2018
He briefly considered making one up for Ma just to scare the crap out of Miguel, but he wasn't sure how long he could pull that off for, so in the end, he didn't.
Re: Registration - PW 2018
The Fairy Godmother fussed over his nametag, writing His Majesty, King over where it otherwise said 'Ben' and then placed it carefully on his lapel. "I wonder who she had to brainwash to get in here," she sniffed, adding her own and then looking around for the criminal in question. "And put your crown back on, Ben. We're here to represent Auradon and to smooth over however many diplomatic incidents that she's caused while she's here."
Re: Registration - PW 2018
Well, totally accurate, actually.
He was just considering taking a quick jaunt over to the food tables when he overheard someone mention the word 'Auradon', which... he knew that word.
These people must be from Uma's world, which was strange, because from what he gathered, there was no one except her crew that she'd actually welcome seeing.
And neither of these people looked much like pirates.
Naturally, there was only one thing to do. He walked quickly over to where the Fairy Godmother and Ben were standing, bumping shoulders with Ben as he did so.
"Oh, gosh, I'm so sorry," he said, sounding apologetic. "I guess I wasn't looking where I was going."
Re: Registration - PW 2018
Even Uma would admit that Ben was nice and didn't bother insisting on formalities. The Fairy Godmother on the other hand...
"Ben! I mean, Your Majesty! You, young man, need to watch where you're going!"
Re: Registration - PW 2018
Re: Registration - PW 2018
"Hey, it's okay, nobody's hurt," Ben soothed. "And, who knows, this might be a bit of luck! Cause, yeah, we're looking for someone, maybe you know her? Uma? Long teal braids, pretty, leather, kinda a whole nautical vibe?"
The Fairy Godmother wrinkled her nose. "Rude. Looks like she was dragged face down across the ocean floor? Possibly holding various people of authority hostage or brainwashing them?"
Re: Registration - PW 2018
"Uma?" he said, scratching his head. "I think I know who you're talking about, yeah. We have a couple classes together." Not exactly the truth, but not exactly a lie either.
Re: Registration - PW 2018
"I told you, she's smart," Ben said. "Taught me a thing or two."
"When you were tied to the main mast in exchange for my wand, or later, when she slipped you a love potion?" Fairy Godmother turned and pinned Bobby with a sharp glare. "Where can we find her? We have some urgent business with her."

That would probably not end well.
He took his name tag and grinned. This was going to be fun.
Re: Registration - PW 2018
"Look, Ari, you get one this year, too," she pointed out to her daughter. "I guess whoever arranges all this figured you'd be big enough to warrant one this time around."
She didn't know how they'd know that, given that Jaridians (and half-Jaridians, apparently) aged so differently than humans, but she also didn't know how it was possible that the two of them could even survive Earth's atmosphere for a weekend. But they had last year, and so there was no way she'd miss the chance to be back here again, even if it wasn't really home.
Re: Registration - PW 2018
"Hey, you're here with Liam, right?" He checked for the nametag. "Lili."
Re: Registration - PW 2018
Who'd looked very much like a precocious three-year-old last time they'd met. Now? Not so much.
"Hi," Ariel offered, although she was already glancing over at the food tables curiously.
Re: Registration - PW 2018
Re: Registration - PW 2018
"Genetics," Lili confirmed. "Her father's species aged much faster than humans."
Re: Registration - PW 2018
"Nice to see you both again," he said to Lili. "How's it been going?"
Re: Registration - PW 2018
"Just business as usual, exploring the galaxy," Lili said. "The coffee maker you sent me back with last year has been a godsend, though."

Now. Who looked like a mark?

Hopefully they would be fire resistant.
