Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet! Friday Afternoon at the Park [09/28].

As one might have suspected, the weather that afternoon was incredibly cooperative and pleasant, just the right balance of nearly everything. Funny how that always seemed to work out. And wasn't that fine weather just a perfect companion for all the decorations and tables set up around the park in anticipation of the weekend's guests, as well as for the impressive spread of food offered for those wanting a bit of a nibble.

There was, of course, glitter, but some might note that it was a bit more tastefully restrained this year.

A bit.

Stretched over the entrance to the park was a large, bold banner, leaving no question as to what all this marvelous preparation was for:

Jan's eyes lit up at that. "Trick him into watching the Space Battles Christmas Special."

THEY WERE SO CRUEL.

"I'm pretty sure he's told JARVIS never to play that."

"That's why you have to be sneaky about it."

"I'm all ears," Steve said, grinning. "How do I get JARVIS on my side?"

Jan hummed, tapping her chin with one finger. "Maybe promise him a new motherboard?"

"That's a computer part, right?" Steve checked.

"...or you could ask Tony that question and use his indignant distraction to put the movie on without JARVIS' help," she suggested.

"You are incredibly sneaky and I admire that about you," Steve said.

Jan beamed at him, lifting her chin proudly. "Learn from me, young one."

They were probably about the same age, but whatever.

"Am I that much younger?" Steve teased. "Really?"

"Yep! I also have seniority over Carol." It was adorable.

"Does that mean she gets to do the coffee runs?" Steve asked.

"No, we go together and no one else gets coffee."

Well, Tony sometimes.

"Somewhere Tony is feeling a disturbance in the atmosphere about coffee injustices and he's mad," Steve laughed.

"He can make his own," she said, waving her hand like she stood a chance against his sad, sad puppy eyes.

"He can, but seldom does," Steve said affectionately.

"You are going to spoil him." Oddly she sounded approving.

"He deserves it," Steve said.

Yeah, he was a complete doof for this man.
