Kanan's warehouse- all day Thursday- NFB

Kitty was tired of this. She was tired of sneaking around, she was tired of having to smile all the time, she wanted everyone back to normal, and it was starting to make her twitchy. Which was still better than the rage monster she'd been on Monday before things got started, really, but it still wasn't ideal.

So there was a lot of pacing among the plastic playground equipment today. Hopefully there'd be more people, and hopefully the word had gotten out by now, and hopefully someone had some kind of plan.

"That's pretty accomplished at his age," Kitty said approvingly.

"Force knows I didn't have my paws in any rebellions at four," Kanan agreed. "Stance, you're a good boy, you know that? Being a good boy for the cause?"

... This was silly, but Kanan kind of needed the silly right now. This week had been rubbing him wrong in so many ways.

"He definitely gets extra treats once that's an option," Kitty decided.

"I have no arguments about stuffing him full of Milkbones once he can eat again," Kanan agreed. "It isn't like he won't run them off again by noon either way."

Stance didn't have a 'low output' setting.

"Does it mean I'm old if I say I can't remember ever having that kind of energy?" Kitty asked.

[uncertain_dume]

"Not unless you remember a whole lot about being four," Kanan offered. "And a dog."

[throughaphase]

"I mean, I did have some energy when I was a cat, and trying to make my dogs play with me. God, that's a weird sentence."

Facepalming was hard in this state.

"See, when I was a cat, the last thing I wanted was to play with this guy," Kanan mused. "... Or at least, that was my story and I was going to stick to it."

But cats. And playing. Really, now.

"There's no shame in it," Kitty said firmly. "Play, after all, is important!"

[uncertain_dume]

Kanan squinted the tiniest bit, at that.

"Normally I'd agree with you," he admitted. "Today I mostly just want to say you've been a toy for too long."

Kitty had to laugh. "I mean, that's true."

"If I ever hear the word 'fun' again, Kitty..."

He'd make faces about it the same way he made faces about coffee.

Leave it to the island to ruin everything good.

"Between dogs and Lexi, do you know how many toys are in my house normally?" Kitty said.

"Several fewer than there are this week?"

Kanan was helpful!

[throughaphase]

"Possibly not!" she said. "But we are cleaning house when this is done."

[uncertain_dume]

"Stance will happily help you dispose of any extra ones," Kanan offered, grinning crookedly. "You should see the way he runs through plush toys."

He glanced toward his now-plush dog.

"... It's kind of poetic that way."

[throughaphase]

"Poetic sounds too nice after we've been dealing with this for several days," she told him.

She was soooo done.

"Point. It's kind of depraved."

Sorry, Stance. Kanan was going to happily feed you more stuffed toys to mutilate once you had teeth again.
