Fall Family Festival!, the park, Saturday

StuCo had been busy since folks had last left the park. What had been a very nice glittery picnic had been transformed into a (glittery) fallstravaganza, full of scarecrows and decorative gourds. Crisp, brightly colored leaves covered the ground, despite the still mostly green ones still clinging to the actual trees. The scent of melted butter and warm spices filled the air. They'd somehow even managed a corn maze, despite the distinct lack of anything resembling a corn field having been in the park before.

There were pumpkins literally everywhere.

The weather was threatening to top 90°F, but StuCo didn't care. It was fall dammit!

Tip, for one, was mighty pleased with their efforts on this fall festival. Even if she was pretty sure that one scarecrow's eyes kept following her everywhere she went. . . .

"Oh my god!" Gregg beamed. "Look Mae! It's Harfest!"

"It's not Harfest," Mae said. "It's like a million degrees out here."

Gregg kicked through the leaves happily -- then promptly got distracted by something shiny and ran off to go investigate.

Mae rolled her eyes with a smile. God, but she'd missed that idiot.

"Well, this is certainly an... upbeat gathering," Mical said brightly.

Atton shot him a dry look, hanging back in his seat. "Don't worry. Between the three of us, we've got enough beige and white robes to beat back the glitter and save the island for mediocrity."

Mical sighed. "I was trying to be complimentary."

"You know, where I come from, we call that 'passive-aggressive'. Not sarcasm, but trying. Poorly."

Brianna rolled her eyes.

Linda startled, grasping for her chest. "Amenadiel," she said sharply, "Can you please, just... stop--" She gestured at him with both hands. "Appearing? Out of nowhere? We've talked about this."

Amenadiel blinked. "Oh, right," he said, contrite. "I'm sorry. This island, it's just so-- alive."

"Yes." Linda took a deep breath. "No." Pause. "I haven't spoken to him yet. I'm hoping he'll show up here, somewhere."

That earned her a frown. "You know how Lucy feels about children."

"Yes. Yes, I do."

Was anyone surprised that Ulysses ended up here mostly by accident? He'd just been using the park for a shortcut, but, hey. People! And most importantly, food because he was suddenly starving as soon as he saw the tables.

But first, maybe he ought to just push the sunglasses to the top of his head and sorta take in the atmosphere. So that was exactly what he was doing.

(Even the shirt he was wearing said Don't Follow Me, I'm Lost Too. It was either self-awareness or a happy coincidence, take your pick.)

Nathan had arrived with Duke, standing maybe a little too closely until Duke made a bee-line for the food tables. Nathan took a minute to look over the crowd and let himself be bemused, once again, that Duke was a teacher.

It was a good thing. It gave him an odd sort of hope. Duke had said he'd probably stay til Christmas. Liam said people who thought they were tourists often stayed. It was an odd thing to hope for but there it was. Hope.

Dani arrived, beaming at pretty much everything. There'd been a party, her partners, fun new clothing, playing with makeup and hair, and now there was glitter and all sorts of autumnal kitsch and glitter and she just loved everything right now.

She made a happy little noise and wrapped herself around Sparkle's arm. "Look at all of it!"

Hernando smiled and shook his head. He was mostly here to see the guests and because it would make his partners happy.

Delirium had gone for a wander. There were many people in the park. And piles of leaves! And glitter! So there went the small embodiment of insanity, dashing through piles of leaves with a 'WHEEE!' and kicking them into the air to bat at them with her hands. There seemed to be more glitter appearing in the air around her than any single leaf could justifiably be expected to contain. Nevertheless, she was laughing and having the best. time. ever!

She hadn't even gotten to the rest of the festival yet because glitter!

Nina was on StuCo which, like, basically meant she was obligated to show up anyway, right?

Out of deference for the orange and gold, today she was wearing blue instead of her usual pink.

Pink just looked terrible with all the fall colours and, like, pumpkin orange wasn't her colour either and only the very tackiest wore outfits with enough gold in them to qualify as a gold outfit...

She was nibbling on roasted pumpkin seeds since, really, they were the best part of fall.

Katy was enjoying all of this way too much. The theme really helped make a Letterkenny girl feel nice and at home in ridiculously warm weather for this time of year, but at least she was nice and comfy in her even shorter shorts and smaller tank top today. But the crowd...oof. It should be illegal for so many pretty people in one area, but she would not complain. So she was definitely going to have some fun, enjoy the view, and maybe suss out more of Wayne's friends to dig up a little more fuel for teasing him.

Darth Marr was also here. He was less amused. Possibly. It was hard to tell under the mask and armour. He might actually be sleeping in place.

Not only was Sidon a member of the Student Council and therefor key in making this spectacular even possible, but he was also stuck at work yesterday, which meant he had a lot of guests to catch up on meeting! Eneregetic and excited as usual, Sidon took it all in with no small amount of glee and pride and wondered where he could possibly even begin!

Welp. Day Two. Pitter-patter.

Wayne knew there was still that inevitable meeting somewhere along the lines with Shuri's brother; he'd probably just head on over, introduce himself, it would be the polite thing to do, but he also figgured he'd have his hands a little full trying to keep an eye on Katy and making sure she didn't go and get herself into too much trouble.

But the decorations were a bit...much, weren't they? Fuck. He was all for tradition and what have you, but this seemed a bit over the top. He picked up a pumpkin fer closer inspection, and then regretted it, because now there was glitter...

"Ha ha," Gabe answered. He still didn't know who'd thrown those guts in his face last year. "How about the corn maze?"

"Only if you've got a chainsaw."

Food and drinks!

Kettle corn! Candy apples! Fudge! Succotash? Hot dogs! Roasted squash! Every variety of seasonal pie known to man! Pumpkin spice everything. Even a little fire pit off to one side for s'mores. . . .

All the moddable fall favorites you could please. And picnic tables set up, because a lot of this was going to require a fork.

Octavia was doing her best not to think about how there was no one who could come visit her and Bellamy, even if someone wanted to. Really, the only reason she wasn't at the apartment just watching TV with him right now was that it was becoming sort of her own personal tradition to always raid the food tables at these events.

Also they had pumpkin spice everything here, so. That helped.

Right now, she was in the process of meticulously getting thin slices of all the pies onto her plate. Call it research.

The Mid-Atlantic really didn't know how to have a proper fall, did it.

Rey hadn't been planning to go to this, but Finn didn't want to be stuck on the ship the whole time, and so they went.

And now had several items to try, because neither one of them had gotten out much before.

"I don't even know what half of this is," Rey admitted. Did she care? No.

Naturally, Ignis was drawn immediately over to the tables with the foods, not so much because he was hungry, per se, but merely because he was curious as to what sort of fare a world like Earth would consider appropriate for a festivity such as this, and rather hopeful that such flavors might inspire some new recipes.
