Homecoming Carnival Post II , The Park , Friday, October 21

Although it was definitely getting to be fall, the decent weather was still holding out, and the sun was shining brightly over the setup for the Homecoming Carnival. The Student Council had managed to clear the space for all the booths and games, but once everything was set up, there were still black cats all over the place.

Hopefully, they wouldn't get too close to the dunk tanks, or there would be some angry wet kitties running around.

There were plenty of moddable concessions to go around, especially if you wanted something warm!

Did the narrative even have to tell you that Octavia was where the food was? Honestly, now. The only new thing was that this time around, she had three black cats stubbornly circling her feet. Two of them rubbed themselves against her ankles, while one kept meowing at her in an insistent manner.

"Shouldn't you guys be hunting your own food?"

Trevor got out of the library in order to get that sweet free food.

That he was sharing with a small collection of cats that had found him to be an easy target for treats.

Well, of course Éponine was going to stop by and avail herself of the free food! It was in the park, after all, and she was out on her delivery route, and a girl got hungry doing all of that hiking up and down the stairs, you know.

She was humming tunelessly to herself as she picked over the selections on the tables, looking for the things that she could best just stick in her pockets and eat with her hands as she walked -- after seven years in this place, she liked to think she was an expert at that particular skill.

"I am literally dripping on you," Duke pointed out to the small herd of cats that kept trying to weave its way back and forth between his feet. "How is this a nice situation for you?"

It was the chili. He had a nice, big bowl of hot chili in his hands, and the cats wanted it. If they could just get him to trip. . . .

Shunsui brought his own drink (of course ♥) and he wasn't too terribly hungry, but he did have an adorable black kitten draped over each of his shoulders and one that managed to be balanced precariously on his hat, and so he figured they might like a few nibbles. So as he considered what sorts of food to treat his new furry friends, he couldn't help chuckling a little and giving them the occassional scratch and pet, careful not to throw them off their delicate balance.

"You kittens are not shy at all ♥ ♥ ♥," he told them fondly as they meowed away in eager anticipation of food, snuggles, and just being on such a nice high perch over all the others that twined around his feel, contemplating the scale up that tall curtain of Shunsui's haori to join the others.

Sabine had found a seat right next to where a black cat had decided to sit about four seconds later. Now it seemed to be having a little standoff with her, like it wanted her to move.

And since she didn't care all that much, she moved down a bit, only to have the cat meow angrily at her.

"I literally have no idea what you want me to do here."

Seivarden had brought her own tea. She did her best not to look at people eating finger food with bare hands. The reason she was here at all, or so she would tell you, was that she was tired of having to endure Issa defending her territory against all the black cats showing up.

She could of course have gone somewhere else, but she wasn't going to admit that some days being horrified by uncivilized people was just the right thing to do.

"Fuck off," she told the black cat staring up at her. "Aatr's tits, you're everywhere."

Jaina, a Jedi Master, mother and full grown adult woman, made this visit to town just to dunk her grandfather, because some traditions needed to be upheld.

She also had a cat on her lap because that's where it decided to sit.

In between throwing things at people and taking in the rest of the carnival, Beau snagged herself a table and a whole bunch of food and just . . . took a while to chill.

With several cats: a couple of them curled up beside her on the bench, one by her feet, and one on the table next to her plate.

"This is my food," she told the one on the table. "I'm not sharing."

She said, while offering it a little shred of roast beef.

Shut up, she was totally not happy about having all these cats around her. Just ignore the almost cheerful look on her face.

Breq had picked up a cup of tea and a pastry and found a seat at one of the tables. She wore gloves while eating, in case Tisarwat should show up, although she wasn't sure the kid could stomach watching people eat at these events yet.

She would never admit that caring about baby lieutenants was comforting.

There was only so much work one could do when there was a carnival one could be attending instead. So after a few hours of hanging out with a particularly snuggly cat paperwork, Liam decided that was enough and headed out to the homecoming carnival.

After grabbing some food, he headed over to the tables to stake out a good spot- and of course was promptly swarmed by a pair of cats who were exceedingly interested in his food.

It's a really rather lovely one, with unicorns and dragons and gryphons and pegasus and other such creatures, all chasing one another around and around and around into infinity.
