Homecoming Carnival Post II , The Park , Friday, October 21

Although it was definitely getting to be fall, the decent weather was still holding out, and the sun was shining brightly over the setup for the Homecoming Carnival. The Student Council had managed to clear the space for all the booths and games, but once everything was set up, there were still black cats all over the place.

Hopefully, they wouldn't get too close to the dunk tanks, or there would be some angry wet kitties running around.

It's a really rather lovely one, with unicorns and dragons and gryphons and pegasus and other such creatures, all chasing one another around and around and around into infinity.

Prompto was definitely disappointed that there were no chocobos on this carousel. How could there not be a chocobo???

But he figured the pegasus was a good alternative and maybe spent more than a just-turned-eighteen-year-old man should have spent riding around in a slow circle while riding on a fake pegasus.

WHATEVER IT WAS HIS BIRTHDAY OKAY? And he did not like heights!

It's a small, unsteady sort of cart that carries you through the dark on a track while things leap out at you.

Sorry, narrative description, Shunsui could make no guarantees, but he was hardly a child, anyway.

Despite what other might disparagingly claim.

But he was, at least, a gentleman, as he lead Octavia-chan over to the Tunnel of Love and made a sweeping gesture with his arm (err, well, semi-sweeping, paying careful attention to the cats) toward the boat.

"Ladies first, of course ♥!"

"You're really taking the cats," Octavia noted as she stepped past him to get onto the... boat (look, the Cape Rouge was a boat, she didn't think this qualified), and to take a seat.

Also, of course he was taking the cats. That was why that was an observation and not a question.

The cats kind of oddly suited him, anyway.

"I don't think I really have all that much of a choice in the matter ♥," Shunsui admitted with a laugh and, as Octavia got settled, gave the cats the opportunity to hop in after her if they so chose. None of them did, except for the one on his hat, which decided to abandon this whole nonsense at the exact moment when Shunsui was halfway into the so-called boat, leaping off in the opposite direction and almost sending the hat flying. Shunsui was able to steady it, but that threw off a few of the other cats, and the whole thing turned into quite the scene of balance and compromise until he finally sank onto the seat next Octavia and tried to get settled.

Which also may have taken some doing, since these so-called boats were probably not designed with large muscly death gods and all their robes and cats in mind.

"Heh. Cozy ♥."

Octavia watched the whole endeavor with the amused and maybe even vaguely fond expression of someone who was pretty sure he was too busy wrangling the cats to be looking at her face.

Eventually, it dimmed back down to something more acceptable.

"Because you brought the cats," she replied, still faintly amused. Also, no, his own size had a fair bit to do with it, too. Octavia herself was practically tiny in comparison.

Shunsui shifted a little more, slinging his arms on the back behind him in a manner similar to how he sat against the wall of the onsen pool, slouching down a little, a little more adjustments and the cats followed suit, hoping he was finally settled. One even let out a small meow as if to tell him that, and the so-called boat then lurched forward toward the ride's entrance. Another cat meowed, though whether it was excitement for the upcoming journey or an objection to it, who even knew?

"Ahhh, yes &heart;," he rumbled, grinning over at her. "Must be the cats. Are you comfortable, Octavia-chan ♥? If not, I'll have you know, my arms do make excellent pillows ♥."

There was a whole book that said so! Granted, it was him using his own arms as pillows, but that meant he just knew better than anyone. And the cats seemed to enjoy them, too.

"I'm fine." Her posture was almost always a little on the stiff side, and this moment wasn't an exception. But, maybe give her until they were in the tunnel itself...? Her relationship with relaxing seemed to be like an assassin's relationship with murder, after all: the fewer witnesses, the better.

But she did finally reach out to give one of the cats a few scritches. It was the one that had meowed last. She murmured, only half out loud, "Hosh, strikon."

"Well," Shunsui noted, grinning faintly over the little cat scritching, "they're not going anywhere...♥."

Because if they did, they'd have some very upset kittens on a small boat, and nobody wanted that.

And, somehow, he managed to find even a little more room for more relaxation. "Mmmm," he hummed lightly. "Lovely ♥."

Octavia let the cat butt its head against her fingers. Her gaze flicked up to Shunsui, though. "You're too easily pleased."

Despite the words, it didn't actually sound like an accusation.
