Caritas- Tuesday

It was Thanksgiving week, and Kitty didn't really feel like working.

She was, but she didn't feel like it.

At any rate, the holiday meant she could play a little and try out some new recipes. She expected a quiet night at the bar, but that didn't mean she couldn't still have fun making them.

"Okay, what the fuck is that last special, and how can I get one?"

No, Mike had not suddenly forgotten how bars worked. He was just making a pont about how ridiculous but appealing that drink sounded.

Hi, Kitty.

"It's like a pumpkin spice White Russian, with chocolate chips, and you can get one by saying hi," Kitty teased.

"Well, in that case..." Mike said, and leaned against the bar before making sure to fix her with some very sincere eye contact, as well as to give her his best, absolutely most charming smile. "Hi, Mrs. Pryde-Barton."

Definitely an echo from his Tampa days.

"Do you think saying it like that will get you two?"

It would!

"Only if you decide so," Mike replid smoothly.

Apart from the way his smile tried to twitch into a smirk, anyway.

"We'll see," she said, mysteriously, turning to start on the drink. There were a lot of ingredients in this one. "How are you doing?"

Mike straightened back up. "Good." He sounded convincing enough, at least? Maybe because stressing out about his business had become sort of like a constant background noise that he could actually ignore sometimes. "Same old, same old. You? Is the tiny person behaving herself?"

"Feeling a little festive?" Rosa noted, as she came in for her usual Tuesday night thing, and, after glancing at the special being offered today, feeling pretty confident that Kitty would know which of the three she'd be most likely to actually get.

"If I have to do any work this week, I might as well have fun," Kitty explained. "Would you like to join in the festivities?"

"I think," said Rosa, " this time? Yes. Just don't tell anyone. We don't need people thinking I actually participate in stuff."

"It's alcohol, that doesn't count," Kitty pointed out. "Got a preference?"

"I'm assuming the Wild Turkey in question is the whiskey and not actual turkey," Rosa noted.

Because around here, it seemed good to at least check.

"Yes. Good lord, yes," Kitty said firmly.

"Then that," Rosa decided. "Please. And quickly. Before it becomes actual turkey."

Because, you know. Fandom.

"Officer Emily. I was hoping to run into you here."

And not just to torment her, this time!

Rosa passed a glance over to Duke, figured she'd had too nice of a weekend, really, so this must have just been par for the course.

"Well, it is Tuesday," she noted, since it had built into a habit.

"It is indeed," Duke said, head bobbing in a little nod. "So. The troopers arrested a woman last week. Then -- deported her. I was wondering if you knew the full story on that."

He didn't expect her to just tell him, no, but it was worth a try first, anyway.

"Deported?" said Rosa, quirking a brow, after sorting through a multitude of possible responses to that, though she was really thinking she should have just leaned into wondering why this was any of his business. "She was escorted back home to Baltimore, it's not like we shipped her off to Mexico."

But, yeah, sure, this was exactly what she wanted to deal with on her Tuesday night...

“And see, that’d make sense, if we hadn’t found her squatting at the National Aquarium this weekend. Naked. And pointing towards Fandom when we asked where her home was. So, uh.” He drummed his fingers on the bar. “What made you all decide she was from Baltimore?”

Duke came in mostly because he knew Rosa was here most Tuesday evenings. Ordering booze without having to explain to his new roommate what booze was was a bonus.

"Those are some festive offerings," he said, offering Kitty a wave. "Let's try the pumpkin pie martini."

"Coming right up. At this rate I'm going to really have to step it up for the December holidays," Kitty realized.

"From what I hear, the island kind of does that for you. Something about egg nog in the faucets?"

[throughaphase]

"Well, yeah. Or mulled wine or something," she nodded. "But by the time people get to the bar, they're pretty sick of egg nog."

"That makes sense," Duke said. "Because egg nog is terrible."

"Egg nog is amazing, but not once you've showered in it," Kitty said.
