It was Thanksgiving week, and Kitty didn't really feel like working.

She was, but she didn't feel like it.

At any rate, the holiday meant she could play a little and try out some new recipes. She expected a quiet night at the bar, but that didn't mean she couldn't still have fun making them.

Mike was kind of also forgetting about those. Amazing what some more traumatic instances in the span between holiday seasons could do to a person's perceptions.

"I dunno, cleaning powdered sugar from the yard is always pretty annoying."

"Okay, but at least it looks like snow," Kitty shrugged. "Just make sure you check the taps all winter before stepping in the shower and it's fine."

Mike chuckled. "Fair point. I don't want to spend another day smelling of eggnogg."

"Going to bed with egg nog hair is the worst."

Anyway, here was your thousand-calorie drink.

"... That looks like it's gonna kill me," Mike decided, after a second to just look at the glass. "Thank you."

"It won't kill you, but it might make you feel better to run around the block after," she said.

"Dunno, I might just call Brooke and whine about my poor life decisions, instead."

But, he picked up the glass and took a thoughtful sip.

Then gave his verdict, which she had not asked for. "I think that's worth the whining, 'cause, that's actually tasty."

"Good. I picked most of them on the basis of it sounded good, and I didn't do much in the way of taste testing," Kitty admitted.

"Pretty sure that's the only way to pick the specials," Mike told her, nodding very seriously. "I mean, if there are other ways, I don't wanna know about them. That's an unnecessary break from a fine tradition."

"Is that tradition?" Kitty asked, smiling.

"It is to me," he informed her, sipping the drink. "That's how I've been picking my specials for years now."

"That just means you're challenging yourself," said his boss.
