"Okay, what is with deliveries lately?"

Kitty had been pretty happy to not end up with an excess of fruit that went bad before she could use it all. But instead, they'd delivered the regular shipment, along with a pallet of cocktail umbrellas.

Meanwhile she was trying to figure out how to like, make art out of umbrellas. Maybe a giant ball of them? Could she string them together to make a summery garland?

"Anything with an umbrella?" That was asking for trouble, Kitty.

"If you don't think I'm serious, you vastly underestimate how many umbrellas I need to get rid of," she sighed.

"Hey, maybe we can take some for Arts and Crafts!" Actually, it was Crafts and Arts this term.

"Please be serious," Kitty said, hoping he was. "You can have soooo many umbrellas. I have a pallet."

"I am very serious," Tony assured her. They were gonna replace their popsicle sticks with drink umbrellas and it would be magical.

"Do you want a pallet?"

Please want a pallet.

"How about half a pallet and we go from there?" You know. In case this backfired on them somehow.

[throughaphase]

"Yes! Thank you! You're getting half a pallet," Kitty said gratefully. "My other option was to give them to Anakin and who knows what we'd end up with."

"...if you give the other half the Anakin, please warn me in advance to avoid his class." Because god help them.

[throughaphase]

"I'd be more worried about Wednesdays ."

Imagine it.

"That's what I meant. Should I have done quotation marks around the word class?"

"Yes. Because all I learn there is why I should stay home."

Yet she never did!

God help them.

"And the only time I've been on a winning team was hungover."

"Well, on the bright side," offered Rosa, ever the optimist, coming in for likely sp her usual Tiesday night as if she hadn't just disappeared for almost a month, "umbrellas aren't perishable."

"This is true. But I can only do so much with them, even when I'm trying to be cute," Kitty sighed.

"Maybe give 'em to Skywalker," Rosa suggested with a lift of her chin. "I'm sure he could find some way to work them into his weekly tort--err, 'shenanigans'."

Rosa wasn't one to use finger quotes often, but when she did...

But then her brow furrowed a little thoughtfully, as she wondered if maybe she could somehow use them for her own tortu--errr, 'class.'

"It's an option. Tony's taking half for his class. If I can't get rid of them fast enough... then I see what Anakin subjects us to."

Because she almost always got roped in.

Rosa wouldn't admit it, but she actually looked forward to Wednesdays in the summer, but that was just because she was a competitive asshole, and she had some major work to do to catch up with Blackstone, because she'd been killing it lately.

"Do you have enough after that to possibly fill a medium-sized pit?" she wondered. "Or am I severely overestimating the severity of your tiny umbrella problem? Not that it matters; I can always supliment the rest with the danger shop, but it's always nice to have that added benefit of a potential eye injury to keep everyone on their toes a little."

"See, it depends. Because there's a pallet of them, and some of it is packaging, but they're smaller when they're not... unfolded," Kitty said. "So it might depend on how big a medium pit actually is."

"Deep enough to submerge a person," said Rosa, whose vision of this was very clear even if the logistics weren't, "and move around a little. Essentially a large ball pit but with umbrellas instead of balls. That a person will have to swim through to find, like, some stupid tiny object."

It would be hilarious.

"We can at least test this, also please give people goggles," Kitty told her.

Rosa leveled a look at Kitty that was begrudgingly admitting that that was probably a good idea.

"Yeah, okay, Mom," she said. "Either way, definitely working this into a themed obstacle course for my class this session, so hold onto at least some of those umbrellas for me."

"Will do. And I'm a mom and an occasional headmistress, I think of both safety and lawsuits," Kitty said.

"Yeahhhh," said Rosa, "it is definitely hard to think of you as a headmistress. Which is not a slight on you, by the way, but on people who usually carry the title of headmistress."

Definitely years of Catholic school and dance academy speaking there.

"How is the kid, anyway? Better summer for her this year, at least."

"She's good. Everywhere, all the time, but she's good. And she's going to wake me up at six in the morning because she now dictates the day," Kitty said.
