The Devil's Nest, Tuesday Night
It was Tuesday, and the Devil was done sleeping off the weekend. It had been an inspiring one, especially near the end, as one could tell by the music flowing from his piano right now.
Well, maybe it had been that, and 'googling how to make anaemic pop palatable'.
Either way, you could kind of tell what he was playing if you squinted.

If anywhere.
She fell quiet again. Pushed the glass further away, then finally let go of it, and pushed her hair back.

"Well, it's all settled now," he said, "At least, I assume. No more drama for the day, you can go home and rest assured I will not be hanging up on you arbitrarily in the future."
How long that future would be, now...
Re: Talk to Lucifer
"I don't know if I would count on that."
But she didn't call him that often in the first place, did she?
Re: Talk to Lucifer
"Do you want me to give me my word?" Lucifer asked.
Which was a dangerous thing to offer, since he took it seriously.
Re: Talk to Lucifer
"No," she said, "because I also don't want you to not hang up on me when you want to, just because you promised."
Re: Talk to Lucifer
"I don't want to hurt you," he said, "Or otherwise be a source of your distress."
Re: Talk to Lucifer
More or less.
"All I really need you to promise is not to take what Duke says as if it goes for both of us." A beat. "And maybe to give him the benefit of the doubt a little more, too. He's... I dont know."
Octavia sighed, just a little.
"He's kind of oblivious sometimes. And just... a little caught up in something, right now."
Re: Talk to Lucifer
"Fine. I promise."
Re: Talk to Lucifer
Because she'd meant it was part of the reason for this whole mess.
Re: Talk to Lucifer
And what she had said a few minutes ago.
He lifted up his glass. "If you're tired," he said, instead of continuing down that path further, "And I've been ignoring you for a full weekend to your frustration... how about we try this again tomorrow? At my house. Drinks. You get free access to the hot tub."
He got to buy off the irritating feelings of guilt by giving her his full attention for an afternoon.
Re: Talk to Lucifer
Now her gaze flicked back up to his face. Re-focused.
Her nod was tiny. "Sure."
