Then a piercing noise sounded throughout the building as a fire alarm went off.

Because why get a good night's sleep when you could be dragged out of bed to wait on the tiny, under-worked Fandom Fire Department to come make sure everything was fine?

"A short in the system could cause a malfunction and set the alarm off by accident," she said. Then added, "It's also possible something just hates us."

Jaskier nodded like he completely understood that explanation, then more vigorously at the latter option. "I suppose it's better than the heat?"

"I'll take the heat over the noise," Rey said. "I can sleep in the heat."

"It also means I don't melt in the summer," Rey shrugged.

Humidity could be another story.

He was angling for that sponsorship.

"So it's air conditioning, and then that?" Rey asked, amused. "What's third?"

"Oh, the cell phones," Jaskier said without hesitation.

"I would have ranked those higher."

Like she used hers for anything besides texting and the occasional picture.

"Perhaps come winter, I will rank it higher than the air conditioning?" He definitely would.

"You'll probably replace air conditioning with heat," Rey pointed out.

"It can't get that bad here, can it?" He was gonna die in the snow. Shove him into a tauntaun, Rey.

"It can get pretty cold," she confirmed. "There can be ice."

Well, now it had to happen.

"I'll stay indoors."

"Heat will definitely rank high on your list," she nodded.

Like she wasn't super grateful for it herself.
