Then a piercing noise sounded throughout the building as a fire alarm went off.

Because why get a good night's sleep when you could be dragged out of bed to wait on the tiny, under-worked Fandom Fire Department to come make sure everything was fine?

Danny gave a 'thank you' gesture of someone who fully agreed with that sentiment. "Soon as the fire department gets here, we'll be good to go back in."

The Fandom Fire Department who mostly just hung out. Had barbecues. A whole rich life for those NPCs.

"Maybe I could just go break the alarm instead," she muttered, feeling a whole new appreciation for Caleb's nice quiet Alarm spell all of a sudden.

"Then I would have to replace it," Danny said, giving her a disappointed dad look.

"Yeah, but --" Sorry about the sudden little uptick in hostility coming through Beau's tone there, Danny, but the disappointed dad look had her reflexively on the defensive. "After we all got to get some fuckin' sleep, am I right?"

It was like when they'd been rolling up characters and the DM told them not to be afraid to let their parents be alive, some of them took it as a challenge.
