Well, Summer had plans to try to put her shiny new shot maker to good use that evening with a sort of Make-Your-Own-Shot competition, but, there'd apparently been a guacamole crisis that the store that day, so she may have decided to switch gears a little bit in a move that would probably surprise no one.

Or just sing because they have a great karaoke set-up and amazing acoustics and Summer still doesn't get why this is not more of a thing, dammit!

Tisarwat had been leaning to come by the bar for one of Summer's shifts after Amaya's movie class, and ~~work was dead enough in this moment~~ she finally made it, wondering if asking Summer to try and help explain that evening's movie would help or only make her confusion worse.

For now, though, she'd be content in seeing what sort of ridiculously purple drink Summer might mix up for her and refusing any of the jello shots, even if she would probably sing because she'd promised Summer she'd come around and help with that some of these nights.

Summer definitely had Tisarwat covered on the purple drinks that weren't anything she even asked for, and it was even sort of on theme for at least one of the jello shots!

"So you and me," Summer said at one point, leaning on the bar with a towel tossed over her shoulder to really complete the whole bartender effect, "need to talk moon trips and double dates here, Tis."

Rey actually had a reason for being here tonight, aside from the usual check-in!

She still checked the specials board.

"Guacamole?"

"Apparently, the store decided we needed a butt-ton of it," Summer explained with a shrug, "and I thought I'd put it to..'good' use."

Yes, those were finger quotes. Yes, she could be self-aware.

"Or was that more of a 'what is guacamole' instead of a 'what is guacamole doing in a jello shot' question, because if you've been here this long and it's the first, I'm gonna be a little sad, Rey."

She paused.

"It's avocado, right?"

"Yes," Summer confirmed with a nod and a small smile that she didn't have to be too sad. "It's a kind of dip made from avocados, usually served with tortilla chips, of which we apparently have none of today, and I swear, that is not my fault, I definitely ordered them, that's totally the store doing its own thing right nowm"

"I completely believe you," Rey assured her. "This place does things."

They were definitely getting guacamole next movie night now.

"It sure does," said Summer, shaking her head, especially since she half-filled most of it would even somehow be magically gone tomorrow anyway.

"But...what am I getting you today, Rey? I have a feeling it's a pass on the guacamole shot?"

"Just a Dr. Pepper," Rey said. "And maybe a favor."

"Oooooh!" Summer's eyes lit up at that as she went to get Rey's drink and slide it over. "A favor! That's a spicy departure from the usual order! I'm in."

Yes, before she even knew what it was. Like details were important, pssh.

"What you need, girl?"

Rey grinned at that. Gotta love enthusiasm.

"I was hoping I could use you and your ship for a thing at home next week," she said. "No trash planet involved."

"I'd be down even of the trash planet was involved," Summer admitted with a smirk, "but I'm not complaining, either. You need some cargo moved?" That was the whole reason she'd even gotten that specific ship, after all. "Or something else?"

"Old Imperial weapons we need to make sure the First Order doesn't get," Rey explained. "We found a lab a while back and need to clear it out."

"Nice," said Summer, approvingly. "Where at? And that's great timing, I just got those new cannons on her ai've been dying to test out for, like, real..."

A pause, and a slightly nervous chuckle.

"Although obviously I definitely hope that we won't even need to. Clearly!"

"You might," Rey told her. "Last time I had to take down a cliff face to avoid First Order ships. Also there are these flying creatures that think we're food, but I should be able to keep them off of us."

Rey, don't tell her this! This is only going to make her want it mooooore!

But, for now, she nodded thoughtful and with a calm reserve that pretty much deserved an Oscar. "Big flying creatures that think we're food or little ones?"

"Very big," Rey said. "And there are also very big cave creatures that will also want to eat us."

"Is the whole planet just full of things that will want to eat us?" Summer asked, and it did not sound like a complaint at aaaallllll.

"Those are the only ones I know of," Rey said slowly. "You'll want to wear good shoes."

"Oh," said Summer with a strongly reassuring tone, "I totally already have the perfect outfit planned."

Mostly, anyway. There might need to be just a little bit of shopping to really put it together, but she had money to burn now, anyway!

"How long do you think this'll take?"

"Probably three days. Maybe four if we run into trouble. It's mainly getting there, loading up, and then dropping everything off," Rey told her.

Summer nodded a little. "I think I could make some arrangements," she allowed, as if she hadn't already decided and wasn't locked in on this completely, then smiled faintly. "I'm sure my million jobs can survive a few days without me."

"It'll just make everyone appreciate you more," Rey told her. "Thank you for this."

"Oh, please," Summer scoffed a little, waving a hand modestly, which was a stark contrast to the pleased grin on her face, the beaming blush on her face. "You know I totally love this crap. I should be thanking you, it's a miracle that I haven't gone crazy from the itch to get back out there, Rey."

...the million jobs helped with that.

"I'm just sorry I didn't have anything sooner," Rey said. "But you'll love the Zixon. And their city is beautiful."

Once you got past the monsters.

And, really, the monsters just made it more...exciting, right?

"Zixon," Summer repeated, her eyes drifting to the side a little to see if it rang any particular bells beyond passing familiarity. "Definitely going to brush off the old holopedia Hera got me to brush up on them a little if I can, before we go."

"It wouldn't hurt," Rey allowed. "And I love that you have a holopedia."

"All thanks to Hera," said Summer, with that fond, distant smile that didn't do nearly as well as she thought it did at avoiding a little sadness, too. "She got it for me when I really started thinking seriously about going out there to help them, and, god, that thing has been invaluable. I couldn't have pulled off half the stuff I did without it...Your guys' galaxy is like, stupid vast."

"It's incredible," Rey said. "The first time I saw a map of it I couldn't believe it. And that was only a small section of it!"

"There's probably a ton more of it to be ~~retconned~~ ~~made up~~ ~~ignored~~ explored, too," Summer said fondly, a little wistfully, really, and then she laughed. "I bet my holopedia still has a bunch of stuff not covered in it, there's no way you could fit it all in just one thing, you know?"

"I'm sure. And by my time a lot of records are lost, or wrong," Rey pointed out.

War'll do that.

"True," Summer agreed, with emphasis, as she started to wonder if it was going to feel very different, Rey's timeline from her ow--er, from Kanan and Hera's. Only one way to find out, really, and that sent the little thrill back through her that easily chased away any slowly appearing uneasiness, and she just shook her head, shook it away, and beamed at Rey a little.

"I'm really excited for this, Rey," she said. "It's going to be so great getting a chance to help out again."

Sometime during the evening Summer would get the following text.

Too hungover to come in. Kitty served me mallrat last night. Tasted like bug spray. It was horrible. Let me know when you get more in.

u know your limits and abide by them. Respect.

Was that a weird thing to text to one of her students? Well, Eleanor was sort of her student in the school of life, so Summer was going to go with a no.

should I make sure I have guacamole next week so you don't miss out on the beauties I made for tonight?

Summer almost sent a picture, but that, she figured, would be weird.

There was a long point in the response where the ellipsis of waiting incoming text went on for a while until a message comes through.

Avacados only good when first harvested. Guacamole only good for two seconds afterwards. I'll wait until the next flood of fresh guac is available.

Summer thought about explaining that it wouldn't really be a big thing, re:the freshness, but then just decided nahhh.

probably a smart choice. Get some.rest. if ur still hungover for class on friday I'm going to be very disappointed
