Caritas; Wednesday [12/16].

You know what the great thing about Caritas (especially when no longer blocked by giant marzipan boulders) was?

The protection spell.

Because unless it decided to fail for whatever god-awful reason (and, really, let's be honest, that seemed like much more of a Thursday/Friday sort of thing to happen rather than a Wednesday), it could at least offer a decent respite from, you know, snow angels and sharkicanes and rock candy icicles.

A respite with booze!

Although Summer was really not expecting the usual big turnout tonight, because she'd rather people just stayed home and safe, but, on the other hand, Caritas was pretty safe, so...it felt like kind of a toss-up. There was just...a lot going on out there right now.

She was definitely side-eyeing the special Tino was adding to the board for boozy hot chocolate because she was 99.9% sure that he was just ducking out into the back alley and scooping it up from the flow that had sprung up back there.

"Fair warning," said Summer, who could understand the appeal, sure, but she also thought she knew the source, "I'm pretty sure Tino is literally just getting the hot chocolate from the back alley right now."

"I don't know whether to be impressed or worried," Summer admitted, but she prepared the drink all the same, especially since Lucifer was pretty much literally the only person she would actually consider giving All the Booze to on a day like this one. "But, either way...enjoy."

At least she had one gun left, and armour. Those were not to be used inside of Caritas of course, but at least Seivarden managed to show up.

"And there's still a week and change until Christmas!" Summer reminded her cheerfully, sardonically so, as she set down a fireball jello shot for Seivarden and poured her a reasonably-poured preemptive whiskey.

"Good thing about snow-related things," she added, with a small pat to the blaster on her own hip, though, really, she lived right across the street, she didn't think she was going to need it unless she needed to do some escorting tonight, which she was so down for, "is that they usually don't do well against blaster bolts."

"I mean, you really only need the one," Summer pointed out, "but you're welcome to borrow one of my extra ones if you want.

"And it's cinnamon spice whiskey," she said. "I figured everyone would be pretty much over candy and chocolate at the moment."

Given the condition of things around the island, Annie had made the decision this morning that they didn't really need another girl in skinny jeans running around in a puffy coat: they needed a hero.

Or, at least, this was the closest she'd felt to having some sort of reason for being here, rather than making friends and throwing wild parties and learning to bartend. She wasn't used to...Christmas-themed atrocities, but still. Danger! Fun!

So, it wasn't Annie who strode purposefully into Caritas this evening; it was Starlight, flushed and fresh from blasting a dozen candy canes and a couple weeping snow angels on her way in. She took a seat on a barstool, taking care not to sit on her cape and steepling her fingers as she considered the specials. "I'm not staying long, but I wanted to see how it is in here," she told Summer with a little smile. "And how you're doing."

Yeah, hi, no, this was Summer's first time seeing Annie in her Starlight get-up that the mun can recall anyway lol, and she was absolutely living for this right now, and the island amping up the holiday weirdness was so taking a back-seat right now, because priorities.

"Oh. Mygod," said Summer, staring at Annie for a brief moment before the grin surfaced. "Is that your superhero outfit? Costume? ...uniform? Calling it a costume sounds, like, dirty or something. I'm going with ensemble. It is definitely an ensemble."

"I usually say 'outfit,'" Starlight told her, smile widening. "I never get to wear it on the island, but this week it seems...appropriate." If, you know, freaking cold but whatever, they were really thick tights. "If I'm not doing the hero thing when ice angels attack people and candy canes try to drag us down, why am I even here?"
