Caritas; Wednesday [12/23].

If you thought Summer was done with the holiday-themed jello shots because practically no one wanted to think about holiday themed stuff ever again after last week, you would be wrong, because Summer was no where near done, especially not when her recent bout of themed sets had been getting some attention on her social media profiles that had the spark of getting back into the jello business in her brain again, and especially not when she was on the cusp of a several-days trip that she was trying very hard not to be nervous about.

Because there was nothing to be nervous about, why would there be anything to be nervous about, it's not like she was generally preconditioned to expect things to go horribly wrong whenever she went somewhere and/or was excited about something, or anything...

Either way, there was definitely an additional cocktail special on the board today so she could focus on something that wasn't talking herself down from texting Barry a million questions about what sort of anti-portal defenses he might have in place for his world or around Jeremy and Roxie's place, because the chances of some awkward ex or horrible spectre of her past randomly showing up to completely ruin what was supposed to be a solid quality-time with friends weekend AGAIN were low....but never zero.

"Saturday," Summer offered, firmly and with a nod. "It's officially over Saturday. Well..." Her head tilted a little, eyes narrowing with thought, but as she thought, she at least got one of the martini shots for Seivarden. "Sunday, because of Boxing Day, I guess, although we don't really celebrate that here. And, technically, the Twelve Days of Christmas are, like, the Twelve Days from Christmas Day on, so I guess officially, technically, the holiday is over on..." She took a moment to do the quick math, "January 5th."

And then she beamed at Seivarden, because wasn't that just such good news???

"But I think everyone's pretty much done with it now."

Except her, apparently.

"Please don't murder the school board, Jesse," said Summer, as she set in front of her quite possibly the most generic of beers. "That just sounds like a lot of hassle, paperwork, and jail time."

"People love a theme," Summer noted, with a touch of pride, since themes had been very good to her this month, if you just glossed over the whole of last week's, "and I also like catering to a very specific sub-set of my audience whose general theme is terrible and possibly crimes again humanity, too. What can we get for you today, Mr. Morningstar?"

"Girl. You have outdone yourself. Gimme three."

"Only three?" asked Summer, as she dutifully lined the shots up, mostly joking.

Mostly.

"Glad you approve. I'm a little disappointed to not work the meat angle this week, but a vegetable angle seems like a solid substitute. How's your week been, Eleanor?"

Seivarden glanced at her. "Is your taste in jello shots a cultural thing, or is it just you?"

She didn't actually sound accusatory or condescending.

Faye took a seat at the bar, eyeing the specials board - last time she'd been here, she'd tried some kind of hot wine thing, but now it seemed like it was - "All gingerbread, all the time, huh?" she asked. "What, like the drink tastes like a cookie?"

Faye was usually a straight-whiskey-no-frills kind of gal, but that didn't mean she didn't appreciate some frills, and the idea of a cocktail that tasted like a cookie was pretty...compelling.

"Mostly gingerbread," plus green beans!, "literally just this time," Summer grinned over at the new patron, "but, yes, that's the idea, it tastes like a gingerbread cookie in delicious boozy liquid form. Would you like to try one?"

Stark had not come to Caritas last week due to, well, everything. Somehow sitting at the bar hadn't seemed like the best option. He was back this week though, now that the island and the holiday no longer seemed intent on murdering everyone with decorative elements.

"Which gingerbread would you recommend?" The green bean was obviously not an option.

But Stark! There wasn't even any meat in it!

Well, chicken stock, but that didn't really count.

"I like the martini ones myself," Summer offered helpfully, "because they're cute and generally easier to eat than the pudding ones. But, obviously, my top recommendation would be to try all of them and decide for yourself which is best."

Faye hung out - or had hung out, regularly - with a guy who had a partly-metallic face and a robotic arm, so Stark's mask didn't give her pause as she approached him. "There's a lot of gingerbread to choose from," she observed, catching the question. "Like, I didn't know so many things could be made to taste like a cookie."

Besides the cookies themselves, anyway.

Faye was torn. On the one hand, hello, hot guy with interesting accent asking for a strong drink. These were all things that lined right up in the 'Faye Valentine's Interests' column.

On the other, books were boring and paperwork made her want to crawl into a hole. As was the very idea of teaching.

"You brought work to a bar?" she asked in greeting, poking a finger at his stack of paperwork with obvious, teasing distaste.

Usually, this might be where to go to escape whatever theme Summer decided to plague the bar with that evening, but guess who had gingerbread throw pillows!!

Don't worry, you're in Caritas, so if they come alive, they'll all end up drowning in the pond...
