Rey's warehouse- Friday afternoon

You know one thing Rey loved and didn't get nearly enough time with? The rock wall on the training course. It was toward the end, so something that she didn't get to as often if she screwed up before then, and if someone came in she typically ended up skipping it.

So once she got here, she ran the course, and then was spending some time working muscles that didn't get used as much these days on the wall. Making your own fun was really one of the benefits of showing up early.

Yes, he was a big show-off.

"All right," she said, looping the rope around her arm to start the climb back up. "Second time's the charm."

"It's all learning," Anakin said.

"Still think you should have learned first," said Rey, who was now midway up the wall for a second time anyway.

Anakin chuckled. "I like this better."

[thatwaslucky]

"Of course you do."

When Rey got about a third of the way up, she stopped, taking another careful moment to turn herself around again. This time, though, she shifted the hand with the rope around it to get a good grip before lowering herself horizontally at that spot on the wall.

Honestly she'd done this before on Jakku.

"So it's really the turn that's the problem," Anakin said, rubbing his hand through his hair.

"The step after that," she called down. "My arms aren't long enough to get into a standing position on the wall without the rope. It's more like a crouch on the wall without it."

"Can you hold the position through the Force?" he asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"From here? Maybe."

Or she was going to have some real interesting bruises later.

"Find out," Anakin said. "I'll catch you if it goes badly."

"Right," she said, closing her eyes.

It was really just like floating. She could do that. This was just horizontal. She just had to trust the Force to have her when she let go of the rope.

Which she did, and stayed in place on the wall.

"Impressive," Anakin praised, smiling.

Most impressive.

And then when she tried to take a step, trying to think about how something like that even worked right now, there went that.

Back down the wall.

Anakin reached out with the Force to steady her. "Careful."

"I know," she said with a frustrated sigh. "I think I overthought it."

[sith_happened]

"Well, it will look very intimidating once we figure it out," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"Yeah. I just have to figure it out."

This was definitely going to be the next thing she obsessed over.

"You've almost got it," Anakin said, smiling.

[thatwaslucky]

"I don't know about almost," she said. "I have part of it."

[sith_happened]

"It's more than you had fifteen minutes ago," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"This is true," Rey said, and excuse her as she bit back the urge to say that wasn't enough.

She'd just think it.

"Try again?" Anakin offered.

[thatwaslucky]

She almost said yes, and then said, "Can I think this one over?"

At least she was learning that it only got worse when she let herself get frustrated.

Anakin smiled. "Of course. Go up the wall the regular way. I don't want you to get frustrated."
