Summer didn't want to ask.

She really, really didn't want to ask, but ever since she came in that night, Tino had been acting very quiet and weird and introspective, like he was contemplating something very deep and mysterious, to the point where it was sort of affecting his work performance, and, despite the fact that she knew she would regret it, the curiousity managed to get the better of Summer, and she went ahead and opened that dangerous can of worms called 'asking Tino what was on his mind'.

"It's just that," he started, brow creasing with distress and worry, "what if cats and dogs had opposable thumbs??"

Summer just shook her head and went to go work at the other end of the bar, because, really, really, she only had herself to blame, she should have known better.

"Honestly," Summer admitted, "I don't know for sure, I've been kind of dreading to find out once I actually open the package. It does seem very hermetically sealed, though, so that's probably a good sign."

"People wouldn't go through that much trouble for ruined underwear," Jesse agreed. "Though I guess you could always... sell it on eBay since it's still bagged and sealed, if you're really worried."

"Honestly," said Summer, "I could probably make way more on eBay for it if it was used..."

"Well, that's the thing about it being sealed," Jesse said, "You could say it was one thing or the other and nobody would know until they'd already bought it."

"That would actually probably be a bad review I'd wear proudly," Summer realized with a smirk, as more images of more vending machines--there really were a lot of them--kept sliding by. "Imaging being the guy complaining on the internet about the panties he bought being clean."

Was it bad that Summer now felt compelled to do a little internet sluething around her brother's accounts now? Because she would put good money on Morty totally being That Guy.

"Right? It'd be someone's just desserts, too," Jesse said.

And then she was distracted. "Are those...?"

... artisinal massage wands?

That was one hell of a catch, there, Jes. Summer might have said something about how that particular one seemed to stand out from the flow of all the others, buuuut....

"I..." Her finger made a little check in the air, "...may have gotten some stuff from that one, too."

Six months, Jesse. Half a year. At least. She no longer had it in her to feel even a modicum of shame about it!

Okay, no, that wasn't true, she would totally insist that it was just for the novelty of it, but still!

"I mean, you know..." Jesse shrugged. "A girl's got to do what a girl's got to do?"

Does that sound right?

"And, I mean," it was definitely a good effort that Summer appreciated and had to grin at Jesse for, even, if, yeah, previous narrative about not having it in her to have a modicum of shame left? False. So false, as she was learning very quickly in response to that, "you know, how often do you get the chance to even buy an artisinal massage wand from a vending machine right there on the street, right?"

"... Pretty much never?"

I have no. Idea.

"Oh, I'm pretty sure it's a bit more than that," said Summer, who was actually now trying to think about it and where she might expect to find one anywhere else, "but I have been to some pretty weird places..."

"Well, you know, as long as it's a good one," Jesse offered.

"So," because they really didn't need to go into that, now, did they?, "what did you do with yourself while you were here in ghost town-ville?"
