Summer didn't want to ask.

She really, really didn't want to ask, but ever since she came in that night, Tino had been acting very quiet and weird and introspective, like he was contemplating something very deep and mysterious, to the point where it was sort of affecting his work performance, and, despite the fact that she knew she would regret it, the curiousity managed to get the better of Summer, and she went ahead and opened that dangerous can of worms called 'asking Tino what was on his mind'.

"It's just that," he started, brow creasing with distress and worry, "what if cats and dogs had opposable thumbs??"

Summer just shook her head and went to go work at the other end of the bar, because, really, really, she only had herself to blame, she should have known better.

"I hope there's no mule in the Moscow Mule," Seivarden said as she slipped on to a stool at the bar.

She was fairly sure there wasn't.

"You know," said Summer, shaking her head a little bit, as she started setting out shots for Seivarden without even being prompted, "I knew you were probably going to say something like that when I was writing it down, and it's a very popular drink these days, you're a bartender, you should know it by now, and don't tempt me, I actually know a lot of places where I could actually get mule meat if I wanted it badly enough."

So there.

But there was something else she was going to pester Seivarden about when she came in that she'd been waiting several days for that would also probably effectively sway her away from how she was a terrible bartender with absolutely no pulse on the field.

"So," she added, setting down a glass of water, too, since she really couldn't predict what Seivarden was drinking on any given day as well anymore, "flirting over tea, huh?"

Seivarden snorted. "I'm not sure the squirrels actually thought that was flirting or if they were just trying to be funny."

"Pretending thay grey mass inside of his skull is actually a functioning brain," Summer offered as she got Jesse her usual generic beer. "More specifically, waxing non-intellectual on what it would be like if cats and dogs had opposable thumbs.

"Which isn't even a new thought," she added, as if this was the mosy offensive part, "my class did Dog World in, like, week two, and we literally work with a cat."

Albeit a stuffed one, but still!

"Anyway! How are you, Jes? How was living in a ghost town, but not literally, or else radio really dropped the bomb on that news, last week?

Jesse parsed the first part of Summer's reply thoughtfully. I wonder how Langston's cat is doing?

She sipped her beer, only realizing Summer had asked her a direct question a moment later. "Oh, uh. It's been quiet," she said. Which had been great for her, since she was still nursing the anxiety hit of accidentally pissing off James. "So... nothing exciting there. How's Japan?"

He had already traumatized half the sailors in Georgia, and was on track to do the same thing tomorrow.

Stark, definitely better rested after a few days of sleeping in a bed rather than on a floor, offered a small smile to Summer as he approached the bar.

"Peach to start, I think. What's the first one? I don't think I know it." But based on the ordering of prior lists it probably wasn't full of meat.

Summer was not at all surprised by the choice as she set one down in front of Stark and returned his smile. "No actual mules," she assured him, because, unlike Seivarden who worked in a bar and should know it by now, she could see why Stark might be suspicious. "It's a drink with vodka, ginger beer, and lime. Thus why they're the cute ones in the actual lime peels."

"I didn't think so. The meat is usually last on your list. I just wasn't sure what it was but ginger and lime sounds good. And they do look nice in the peels."

Not as cute as candy fish sushi, but still nice!

Hannibal walked into the bar, eyed the specials, and nodded to Summer. "I was informed I should come and try your jello shots as a means of being supportive. How are you this evening?"

"Well," Summer informed him, smiling happily, "you've come to try my jello shots as a means of being supportive, so pretty good, I'd say. Even if now I'm sort of wishing I did something a little more exciting."

As if lobster in jello with vodka wasn't exciting enough!

"Thank god people are back," Travis said, in lieu of any sort of traditional greeting. "I have never seen an entire town go so quiet before without some kind of natural disaster happening. It was spooky."

I can't say I know how that is, because I've always gone unless I wasn't living here, but I've heard stories. I'm glad you missed us, Travis! What're we drinking tonight?"

He should maybe clarify that that wasn't an order.
