Drunk and Bored Club, the beach, after sunset

It was a nice day out, not too hot or too cold or too windy, and Miguel had mentioned this to a couple people lately, so here he was on the beach with a twelve-pack of craft beer and a case of halfway-decent beer. If people showed up, they'd have a meeting. If nobody else showed up, it'd just be him on the beach with a lot of beer. Win/win, really.

There were very few traditions that Rosa supported without question or complaint. Drunk and Bored Club would always be one of those traditions.

And part of that tradition was bringing in a case of some impressively shitty beer to contribute to event, and a bottle of whiskey for herself.

She'd also argue that showing up and not talking to anyone if she could help it was just as much tradition as her showing up with the shitty beer.

The day had started out particularly rough for Dwight.... and the rest of the day, well it had not exactly been kind to him either.

There was a lot to process still, and while he didn't particularly want to be around a lot of people just then, he also didn't want to spend another sleepless night staring at the ceiling.

So, whether it was the best judgment call or not, he was there making his way along the beach, a few bottles of beer in his hand.

After Wednesday being frustrating, Seivarden had been considering going home for a short visit, but in the end she had decided not to. Drunk and Bored Club seemed like a good idea. She had brought a bottle of arrack, that should be enough, and looked around to see who was there.

New person? At least someone she didn't recognise.

"I don't think we've met," she said, smiling.

Dwight looked over from where he was sitting and gave a smile and a nod.

"I'm Dwight" he said. "Just move here a few weeks ago."

"Seivarden Vendaai," she said, bowing a little.

Since it was a summer evening on the beach she was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, not her Radchaai uniform, but naturally with a nice pair of gloves, these ones red and reaching to the elbow.

"It's nice to meet you, Seivarden" Dwight said. "That is a beautiful sounding name."

Seivarden laughed. "Thank you. It's not a common name here. So, where are you from?"

She was trying to guess whether he was from Earth or not, and leaning towards the former.

"From a little coastal town in Maine," he said simply before continuing. "Here on Earth... guess that is something that needs clarifying" he said with a chuckle. "Brain isn't still totally used to this Fandom... ummmm.... you know" he said as he made a motion like he was packing a snowball together. "This mish-mash of places and times."

"You get used to it," Seivarden said. "I am not from Earth and I have to admit I don't know where Maine is. I expect you haven't heard of the Radch."

"Hi, Rosa," Miguel said, because he was a little shit and liked to make her talk.

"Hey, Dwight!" Miguel toasted to him with a bottle. "Over here."

"Ah no I haven't... though I admit that before coming here... I wasn't sure about much else outside Earth itself being real," he said with a dark laugh, taking a drink from the bottle in his hand. "Been quite the learning curve these last few weeks!"

"Hey, Seivarden." Miguel toasted her. "Just tell me you didn't bring something from the wine class."

Was that a slowly building dramatic theme wafting over to the beach from the ocean in that twilight evening?

No, no. It was just Sidon, out for a late swim before returning to the docks for the night, but his keen eyes picked up some activity on the beach, causing him to reroute in an eagerness to check it out. A quick change of course and he was soon cutting through the water toward the shore and, when he was close enough, he kept out of the sea with a great splash of water, launching himself up in the air, throwing in a roll for good measure, until the mighty leap had him landing in the sand nearby with ease.

Then he straightened, shaking a little water off his fins a little, before turning a brilliant smile toward the gathering.

"Wonderful evening, isn't it?" he asked. "I am not interrupting some terribly clandestine meeting, now, am I? I daresay, if that's the case, one might be wise to consider somewhere a bit more secluded for next time!"

Just a little joke, of course! That, if his laugh was any indication, he thought was quite good, really.

Dwight gave a wave and a nod as he walked over and plopped down next to Miguel.

"Hey, Miguel. Been quite the week huh?" Dwight said with a chuckle as he cracked open one of the bottles and took a drink.

Ugh. Didn't she talk enough at home?

"Tightpants," Rosa.greeted back.

And took a sip of her shitty beer, and that was it, because if he was going to make her talk, he was also going to have to work for it.

Seivarden shuddered. "No. I did bring some arrack from home though."

She held up her glass to return the toast. "You are welcome to try ot if you like, of course."

It wasn't that Seivarden hadn't seen Sidon before, it was just that his arrival was both impressive and uncivilised, verging on what could have been charmingly decadently uncivilised if you were Radchaai from a prestigious family. And a shark, which made it an oxymoron.

"Aatr's tits."

It was a very dramatic entrance, even for a Zora, which made it quintessentially Sidon.

And he could have probably showed off a little more, too.

"Hello!" He greeted Seivarden brightly with a wave of his hand. "Room for one more?"

Which he also thought was quite funny, considering that he had grown enough that buildings now proved to be a unique new challenge.

But out here on the beach? Marvelous space!

"I've always thought it must be odd being stuck on one planet," Seivarden said. "But I suppose if that's what you're used to, there's not much else to compare with."

She took a sip from her glass.

"Although there are plenty of things happening here that would be surprising to most people. Most of them annoying."

"I think the beach is big enough," Seivarden said. "At least if you brought drinks."

She wasn't rude, she would offer Sidon some arrack if he hadn't brought anything.

"Oh we had our fair share of odd and annoying happenings back in Haven, though.... they were of a different type than what seems to be the norm here in Fandom."

thankfully Dwight muttered to himself as he took another drink.

"...I did not bring drinks," Sidon admitted, though he didn't sound too trouble by it. "I was only passing by," he gestured toward the ocean where he'd just come from in case there was any question about that, "when I noticed a gathering and thought I'd see what it was all about? Should I have? I'm sure it's nothing a quick run to the store couldn't remedy!"

"Most of the annoying happenings where I'm from are at least not odd," Seivarden said. "Possibly with some exceptions."

She tried not to think of Presger Translator Zeiat eating things.

"So, have you found something to do on the island yet?"
