Groovy Tunes; Thursday [06/24].
It was sort of an idle thought, bourne from a relatively idle day, after Tisarwat had gone a bit idle after having finished most of her work that day early and having already gone through several cups of tea.
It probably wouldn't hurt, after all, to be more familiar with some of the instruments she sold, and she'd done surprisingly well with the piano so far, YouTube was an excellent resource (although it was still hard to get past the idea that she was watching something decidely NSFW at work by watching tutorials, because you can bet no one was playing tutorials with gloves on...), and so she cautiously picked up a guitar, set up her phone to follow along, and started plucking a little bit at one of the guitars in her spare time.
If anything, she figured Breq would only appreciate it if Tisarwat was expanding her musical knowledge.
Groovy Tunes is open!

She didn't know this when she entered the shop though.

Either way, Tisarwat was quick to stop the video and turn off the screen on her phone once she heard someone come into the store, especially so when she saw who it was.
"Seivarden," she said in greeting, moving to set the guitar aside. "How are you?"
no subject
"I'm fine," she said, smiling. "And yourself? Have you taken up the guitar?"
no subject
She felt the unspoken assumption of Breq's approval wouldn't be necessary to point out.
But what was far more necessary was proper manners.
"Tea?" she asked, already reaching for the flask.
no subject
"It's a popular instrument here, isn't it?" she continued. "Have you been inspired to listen to Earth music now that you work here?"
It was just polite conversation, of course.
no subject
"Thinking of maybe picking up an instrument for yourself?"
Polite conversation indeed.
no subject
"I would be terrible at it."
That was mostly an excuse.
"I'm thinking about going home for a few days."
A change of subject that was a bit too sudden, perhaps.
no subject
But maybe it was the sudden shift that made Tisarwat have to be conscious about not lifting her eyebrows, but it almost happened. Instead, though, she was able to control it with a sip of her tea.
"Any particular reason?" she asked, as cool as she could manage.
no subject
Which meant she desperately wanted to go back right now.
"Have you talked to Breq recently?"
no subject
"Maybe," she added, like an afterthought, "I should go with you."
To talk to Breq, of course.
Since it had been a while.

Seivarden couldn't stop her, and part of her reason for bringing it up was in hope that Tisarwat would suggest it. She herself might seem less desperate.
Breq would see through that, of course, and Ship too probably. As for others, they would most likely not see any desperation at all, but since Seivarden felt it, she also felt the need to hide it.
"Would your friend come along?"
no subject
lazyreserved she'd been about it."I'll have to ask her," she noted with a sip, as plan were already starting to free-wheel through her mind. "I know she's expressed curiosity."
no subject
She hadn't done that before, but it did seem proper.
