Kitty had missed out on all the weird dreams and stones and all. (Which she wouldn't be upset about later, given how many dead friends had either come back later or turned out not to be dead in the first place.) She was totally oblivious so far, so the special was maybe accidentally helpful.

HALF OFF FIRST ROUND

Meanwhile she was at the bar, emailing back a promoter about an "event opportunity" next week definitely two weeks from now, which would hopefully get good attendance. Looks like she'd be setting up fliers again.

"Ahh, well that's excellent news ♥," said Shunsui, after he swept into the bar with his usual unnecessary fluttering of robes and regarded the specials board with apprectiation before tilting up his hat to offer Kitty a grin. "I promised my class I'd treat them to a few rounds for their trouble if they were so inclined, and I was considering extending the offer out to any of the evening's patrons tonight ♥."

Because someone was feeling generous.

And desperately trying to put off having to confront his obligations and duties in another realm.

"How could I not now ♥," he mused idly, "with a special like that ♥?"

"That's why it's there," Kitty told him with a smile. "What'll it be tonight?"

"I'll leave it to the lady's choice ♥," Shusnui decided, because, let's be honest, if it wasn't his usual sake, he really didn't know which way to go, and even he felt buying himself some sake at a bar when he literally carried around a jug of it at all time seemed a bit...much. "I assure you, I am not picky, and even if I was, I could never complain about being lead astray by such beauty ♥."

"Usually when people don't have a preference I give tequila and people definitely end up complaining about that the next day," Kitty pointed out.

[sake_shinigami]

"Believe me, my dear ♥," Shunsui huffed a faint laugh, "the more I have to complain about tomorrow, the better ♥! I can assure you, though, I can handle my tequila rather well."

You didn't have Rangiku Matsumoto as a drinking partner without a little tequila in your life, after all.

...or...a lot of tequila, actually.

"Your recommendation sounds perfect ♥."

"Then that was easy," she said, getting a glass. "So how's your day?"

"Increasingly better by the minute," Shunsui leaned a little lazily on the bar and offered up a smile that matched, "and by leaps since entering this bar ♥. Hard to really complain when one has officially been released of the burden of a class for at least a week ♥."

Which was a better thing to focus on than his uneasy feeling right now, though that was just sort of par for the course for a death god traipsing on the edge of an event that had an awful lot to deal with his...area of business.

"And yours...Kitty-chan ♥?"

The question was just as much for the inquiry itself as well as a perhaps vague uncertainty of whether or not he had the name right. He did try to make a point of at least knowing all the beautiful ladies on the island by name, but doing so in a place like Fandom, with its absolutely generous outpouring of beautiful ladies at every turn, was a rather demanding task at times.

"Good. Getting ready to start classes myself," she admitted. "Summer's over, time to get back to work."

[sake_shinigami]

"Mmmm ♥," Shunsui gave a little thoughtful hum. "Consider me envious, it's be nice to take a summer break for a change ♥."

Teaching was less work than what he'd have go do if he wasn't here. He had to work to avoid work. It made Shunsui-sense. Really.

"And what," he ventured, "will you be gracing the classrooms and the inquisitive minds of our intrepid students with, may I ask ♥?"

Whatever was happening on the island felt almost familiar. It wasn't quite familiar enough for Stark to identify it though. At least not yet. He'd never been on the island for the beginnings of this occurrence and only experienced the end result once, a long time ago. It wouldn't occur to him that that might be happening again. Right now it just felt like an odd pressure, or perhaps an invitation to something, nudging at the edge of his awareness. And any dreams he'd had last night hadn't felt out of the ordinary. He was trying, for the most part, to ignore the feeling. For now.

The bar was a good place to try and ignore odd things, even if it wasn't his usual night.

"Hello, Kitty," Stark said, offering a small smile as he took a seat.

[throughaphase]

"Hey, Stark," she greeted him. "How's it going tonight?"

So, sorry if that didn't help with the repression.

[stykera]

Stark was good at repressing, even with prompts, Kitty! He'd had so much practice.

"Mostly fine, I think. Nothing to complain about, at least. And you?"

[throughaphase]

"Oh, I have tons of things I can complain about but nothing worth the breath," she admitted. "I'm setting up an event for next week."

[stykera]

"I suppose there is always something to complain about," Stark allowed. "But yes, nothing too serious. The day has felt a bit odd but I'm not sure why." Or he was not thinking about why. One of those.

"What sort of event?" Oh no, was Tino going to make him do very short dates with people again?

[throughaphase]

"A startup company is letting us try their new alcohol for free, to get some buzz around it," she explained. "So, essentially a free party and I get to check the books and crannies in the bar at the end of the night to make sure no one's left passed out in here."

It uh, might be good timing, considering the week they were in for.

[stykera]

"Oh. I didn't know that was a thing that happened. Has it happened here before?" He had missed a lot, over the years, both by being gone and by not going out much when he wasn't.

"The party or people passing out in corners?" she checked.

[alwaysonguard]

Was it too early to be hitting the bar for a drink? Maybe, maybe not. Dwight really didn't care. He had been up since before dawn, so anytime past mid-day was late enough for him at this point. Maybe it would help silence that nagging echo from his dreams that kept replaying in the back of his mind.

So, after taking the sign out front into account (as if he needed any more convincing really) Dwight walked in, giving Kitty a nod as he slid into the seat at the bar.

"Hey there," Kitty greeted him. "What's it gonna be tonight?"

[alwaysonguard]

"I'll take a whiskey to start" Dwight said. "Might as well take advantage of that special," he said with a slight smile as he nodded towards the sign out front.

[throughaphase]

"That special's a big hit sometimes," she said, pouring a glass and sliding it over. "How've you been?"

[alwaysonguard]

"Alright considering. Though this has been the fourth day this week I have seen the sun rise," Dwight said shaking his head. "Which really isn't all that odd... but yeah being up since 4 this morning... not my idea of an ideal way to start the day."

He took the glass and nodded to Kitty. "And how have you been faring?" he asked as he downed the shot.

"I'm up that early myself way too much," she told him. "But I'm good. Setting up a bar party, gearing up for the school year."

[alwaysonguard]

"Bar parties are always good," Dwight said with a nod. "Going to be interesting seeing what the school year is really like around here" he said as he slid the empty shot glass over and nodded for another one. "Came here middle of the summer slump... so I'm sure I am going to be in for an experience"

"It's not that unusual, really," Kitty said, pouring his refill. "A lot fewer classes than normal schools, something might invade at some point, and then there's a week that's really quiet as the students and teachers go on a fall break trip."
