Tino's decorating had (hopefully) reached its peak. There were fake cobwebs on everything, the spider piñata was still ha hung around, there was a skeleton holding an empty martini glass sitting in for the zombie drummer, and basically the bar looked like the garage of that one house in every neighborhood that made kids touch peeled grapes because they supposedly felt like eyeballs.

And that would be fine if the animatronic bat hadn't been joined by an animatronic spider and several animatronic witches, etc, so that Kitty could hardly move without something cackling at her.

Too far. This was too far.

"This is...different," Stark said, jumping just a little at one of the witches when it started laughing.

"You, Tino, or the island?"

[throughaphase]

"Tino," she said, frowning at the person in question. "This is hopefully its final form."

[stykera]

Careful Kitty, you might get overtaken by turkey decorations next.

"He doesn't have much time left, at least? To add more."

[throughaphase]

Well now it was going to happen.

"That's what I keep telling myself. And that he gets to take it all down himself!"

Just making sure he heard that.

"What if he refuses?"

That seemed like a Tino thing to do.

"Then I threaten to dock his pay and then he does it anyway," Kitty said, having experience with this.

[stykera]

"It's good there's a plan in place," Stark said, nodding. "It's happened before then?"

Rosa was just here for the decorations, and to see just how out of hand they'd gotten.

Okay, and to see Kitty and have a beer and to be publicly anti-social, but....

"Wooooow."

Clearly, she was not disappointed.

"It's so loud, Rosa," Kitty sighed.

"You want me to smash any of them for you?" Rosa offered, like the truly self-sacrificing friend that she was. "I'd be willing to smash some of them for you."

There was a long pause.

"I bet we could sneak one or two out to break before he notices."

Kitty could stick her hand into the things and break them, but that wasn't as satisfying.

"I can totally sneak a few of them out," Rosa said with confidence, then she nodded, a plan settling into her head. "I'll keep an eye out for an opportune moment."

Which meant not only getting to smash shit, but also getting to utilize Ninja Mode.

Win/win.

"We can sneak some back to make him happy as long as they don't cackle," Kitty negotiated.

The idea of deactivating rather than just destroying some of them didn't seem nearly as appealing, as evidenced by the expression on Rosa's face, but she sighed in resignation.

After giving Tino a withering, long-suffering look.

"I guess that's fair," she allowed reluctantly.

So it had finally happened. Billy had accepted, as begrudgingly as possible, that he was not getting off the island any time soon. Whether it was the more things breaking on his boat, the fact he nearly sank the other day trying to leave, the fact that some giant shark man hadn't had to tow him back to shore, or a combination of al that.... whatever it was, Bill had accepted his fate-for now.

He needed a drink. Several most likely. And so he walked into the bar, pausing for a moment as he stared at everything and gave a sigh. Taking a seat and looking around to see who all was in right then.

"You guys really get into the spooky season around here" he said as he glanced up at the piñata spider hanging overhead.

"We're not even the biggest deal on the island," Kitty said. "We are however the most obnoxious."

"Well, you seem to have that niche covered pretty good too. Bar still open for drinks I hope, could really use a beer....or three," Billy said with a somewhat pained laughed.

[throughaphase]

"You're in luck, we do have one to three beers on hand," Kitty smiled, getting him one. "Long day?"

[mother_love]

"Long couple of weeks" Billy said with an appreciative nod as he took a drink. "Looks like I will be at least a resident here for a little while at least. Island seems determined to keep me here."

[throughaphase]

"Oh, yeah, that happens sometimes," Kitty says, sympathetic. "At least it's a decent place to get stuck."

There were still a few new arrivals to the island that Stark hadn't run across yet. Billy must be one of those, so Stark offered a nod and a hello to the other man. It was good to at least meet everyone. It was a small island.

Would aliens living on said island make it more or less weird?

Billy nodded in return as he sat at the bar with his drink. At least the place was friendly enough. Maybe everything would work out ok after all.

"Hey, how's it going?" he ventured, deciding if he was actually stuck here for the foreseeable future he might as well stay on good terms with the locals.

It was an oddly friendly sort of place, wasn't it?

"Going well," Stark said. "And you? We haven't met yet. I'm Stark."

[mother_love]

"Billy. It's nice to meet you Stark."

Billy eyed Stark for a moment, wanting nothing else but to ask about the mask but told himself it was just an early Halloween mask.

"Yeah been here for a couple weeks. Though it looks like I will be staying here for the foreseeable future. At least until the cold weather comes and goes."

Stark didn't mind being asked about the mask. He was used to it and would answer questions as long as nobody was rude about it. He looked back at Billy evenly then nodded.

"It's a good place to stay," he said. "Strange, sometimes, but a good place. One of the best I've been."
