Caritas; Wednesday [12/08].

Some people kept a supply of potable water on hand for emergencies; Summer kept a supply of potable water on hand because she wasn't going to let eggnog in the pipes stop her from making her Wednesday night jello shots! And then got prepared to have people boggle over how she'd managed to still do her jello under the current circumstances as if basic emergency prep on an island where emeregencies happened all the time was, like, some mind blowing thing.

There were always a few.

One of them, apparently, was Tino, but she was not even going to give that the time of day, considering he was also making a big deal out of just cocoa and eggnog coming out of the beertaps as if bottled beer didn't exist or something.

Sometimes, she was pretty sure he was just like this on purpose.

Either way, there was booze, there was karaoke, there were at least two Christmas trees there since Summer had agreed to take two of them from the store earlier as if that would even make a dent in their overflow supply, and it was Wednesday, baby!

Or just sing because it's fun and really more people should be doing it, and Summer can't be the only one with "Last Christmas" seemingly suck in her head on repeat right now, right?

Come grab a drink that's not eggnog! Or pay for a glass of eggnog when you literally just could go home and have some, do whatever you want, Summer's not your boss.

Where there are also two very nice Christmas trees...and plenty more where those came from!

As far as Summer knows, it's relatively free of singing dolls this week, and Christmas trees, but she hasn't been back there, so who knows?

Standard work-related SP is likely to apply, although, hey, yesterday, the whole system was down, so maybe I'll get in and it'll still be down and I can just go home?

"So, if I sing four songs, do I get four free shots?" Dwight asked with a head tilt towards the stage.

Yes, he could read the sign but it was still worth asking.

The rules were emphemeral, really, and Summer...was very interested in your offer, Dwight.

"You will absolutely get all four shots free if you do four songs," she decided, because, um, yes?

"But," she added, "you do have to do all four shots, too."

No backing out on the last one!

You would think after the party that Goose would have learned his lesson after all those shots but no he was back at the bar again this week as well.

“The eggnog’s a new experience,” he remarked as he took his usual seat at the bar, still managing to send bits of glitter that he hadn’t quite got rid of yet scattering everywhere , “it definitely made this morning interesting,”

But that was just how you built up a tolerance, right? Eventually, he'd be downright impervious!

Let's all hope, though, that that didn't happen for a good, long time.

"Ohmygod," said Summer, "please tell me you didn't even notice until you stepped in the shower."

Liz wasn’t too sure why she had decided to try Caritas tonight since she knew it was a popular bar night but she figured she had been here a couple of months and should maybe try socialising a bit more, especially after the party when she realised how few people she did know. She figured it wouldn’t hurt to spend a little time at the bar.

She approached the bar cautiously, “um …hi,” she said, still a bit unsure.

"Oh, hey!" Summer brightened with that very particular brightness and rush that came whenever a face that didn't usually sidle up to the bar showed up. "Quiet girl from the bakery that one time!" Summer was pretty sure she remembered Liz's name, but since she wasn't completely sure, she figured that was safer. "What can I get for you?"

It was going to be a very long time before he built up a tolerance, he wouldn’t admit it but he was actually quite enjoying experimenting and seeing how far he could push the drinking.

“That was how I found out,” he admitted, “not quite the shower I was expecting, it certainly made an interesting field trip home,”

Of course Doc had picked up on the fact that he’d smelled like Eggnog.

"Of course you had to make the eggnog one," Rey smiled, taking her seat.

“I’m Liz,” she said with a nod and a small smile and looked over the specials since she had experienced her first Jello shot at the party, she figured one wouldn’t hurt, “um…what would you recommend?” she finally asked.

"I meaaaaan," said Summer, "when the island gives you eggnog, make it boozier and jiggly."

She smirked over at Rety with a quirked brow.

"Wanna try one?"

Especially after she'd sold it so appealingly!

"Oh?" Summer, feeling grateful for the narrative picture this painted for multiple reasons (she'd seen him shirtless and covered in glitter, there was plenty to work with there), leaned on the bar a little, feeling those listening-ear bartender viiibes. "Your class took a field trip?"

"Figured I'd start with that one" Dwight said, knowing good and well what flavor Summer was referring to. "Get it out of the way then wash it down with the better flavors."

He gave Summer a considering glance and smiled.

"So, can I get one shot on my tab to start off with? Or are you gonna make me do this without any liquid courage?"

Dwight didn't know if you remembered karaoke from the party... hell, Dwight didn't remember everything about it either. But he did recall at least a few people were somewhat impressed with his performance.

"Liz'" Summer repeated with a satisfied nod, pleased that she'd been right, but not feeling bad about going the safer route, either. "And personally? If you go jello, I'm a big fan of the Winter Sun. Very elegant and refined with a surprising herbaceous finish thanks to a little rosemary, but, I mean, also, the brownie one is amazing, too. We've got some good new bottle winter ales in, too, if you want to go a more traditional route. I say, double up, Winter Sun and winter ale, they'll compliment each other nicely."

"No, I've actually had quite enough of eggnog today," Rey said, wrinkling her nose. "I can try one of the middle two, though."

Funnily enough a lot of people had seen Goose shirtless, both at Fandom and his home, it was how his canon rolled sometimes.

“I took them to a research base in my home world,” he explained, “one of the other members of my team was there …he definitely picked up the eggnog,” he shook his head with a small grin, “at least it wasn’t my commanding officer, that would have been a bit more awkward to explain,”

You know the one he had tried to drunk video call while shirtless and covered in glitter.

“Alright then,” she said with a smile, “I’ll try the Winter Sun and the Winter Ale please,”

Summer was already setting the shots down on the table. Leading, proudly, with the tomato ranch.

"Your dedication to karaoke and shots will be faithfully reflected in the final bill," she assured Dwight, "and do keep in mind that evidence may be recorded for posterity."

What a good thing drunken Goose had some mysterious bespectacled guardian angel to prevent such a travesty!

"It's not exactly subtle," Summer admitted with a snort, "but I should think it would be easy enough to explain. If they can't accept that Fandom's gonna Fandom by now, I'm pretty sure that's on them, not you."

Goose had plenty enough on him already, what with the eggnog and still glitter, apparently!

"An excellent choice," said Summer, as if Liz had come up with the combination herself, setting down the shot and cracking open the beer and setting it down with a glass if Liz preferred that one the bottle.

"It was good to see you at the party on Friday!" she added. Sure, she hadn't had a chance to talk to Liz or anything that night, but she saw her there! That counted! "Did you have a good time?"

"I can't imagine how you could possibly be sick of eggnog today," Summer snorted wryly, and then grabbed a shot for Rey.

"Winter Sun, I think," she decided. "It's lighter and brighter. The brownie is amazing, don't get me wrong, but it's definitely super-rich and a little heavier."
