Drunk and Bored club, Saturday night on the beach

It was Saturday and good weather, so Miguel was out on the beach, there was a fire lit, and he had a twelve-pack of decent beer and a bottle of rum.

The Drunk and Bored club was in session!

Miguel nodded and held out a beer.

Marc accepted because that was half the point of being here. "How's it going?"

Most people would say thank you but this was Marc so be glad he said anything, frankly.

"Not too bad; you?" Miguel asked. "Settling in?"

"Still getting used to the place," Marc said. He was thinking about the class Steven had forced him into on Friday. Or more specifically some of the students. "Outside laws don't apply here, right?"

"Eh." Miguel made a 'so-so' motion with his hand. "I think the only laws Fandom cares about are 'don't hurt anyone nonconsensually' and 'don't blow things up unnecessarily'. Technically we're still in the US, early twenty-first century, but I don't think I've ever seen outside cops show up, and I don't think we have courts, so." He shrugged. "Anything we need to worry about?"

"General wondering," Marc said. "Like if somebody had an outstanding warrant from home would they need to worry. Nothing specific."

[what_the_shock]

"Pretty sure half of us have those," Miguel said, grimacing. "I can't show my face in my Earth anymore, but here's safe, yeah, as far as I know. You do anything interesting?"

Marc hadn't been thinking about himself but since he wasn't certain he'd guessed right about the person he was wondering about he figured Miguel didn't need to know that. "More things than I can count. That's why you stay friends with somebody who's good at making fake IDs, am I right?"

[what_the_shock]

Miguel snorted. "Doesn't help much when your face is broadcast live around the world, but yeah, there's a few folks here who can do that. Comes in handy when you need to rent a car on the mainland and you technically haven't been born yet."

"Luckily I haven't had that problem yet," Marc said. "But I bet those folks do great business around here. Surprised they don't advertise more."

Or maybe they did and Marc hadn't paid attention since he didn't need it.

"They've taught a couple classes in it," Miguel said. "But yeah, with half the population from another world or time, I'm pretty sure legal IDs are the minority. You need a new one, I'm pretty sure Rosa can hook you up."

Which was to say, he was absolutely sure she could, but whether she would was another story.

"I've got my own hookup but I'll keep it in mind," Marc said. He already had a good store of his own fake IDs, plus all of Steven's legal paperwork was forged by definition. Good thing they had Layla and her connections. "What's new with you?"

"Not a lot," Miguel said. "Might need to get out and do something interesting soon. I don't sit still well for long. You?"

"Got signed up for a class because Steven thinks he's funny," Marc replied.

[what_the_shock]

"Anything good?" Miguel asked.

Marc gave Miguel his driest look. "Relationships. Like I said, Steven thinks he's funny."

Miguel laughed. "Sorry, sorry. Okay, really not," he confessed. "Wait, unless you two are in a relationship? Then it's less funny, more ouch."

It'd be weird to be in a relationship with your clone/alternate universe self/whatever, right? But hey, if you really liked yourself, maybe it'd work.

"No," Marc said. He wasn't Loki, after all "He's dating that cop now. Watts. Thank fuck for that."

[what_the_shock]

"Okay, then yeah," Miguel said. "Totally hysterical." He thought for a moment. "Don't think I've met Watts. But if the guy worrying about the law likes the cop, he can't be all bad."

"More I'm glad he's got something to occupy his time that's not me," Marc said. "But the cop's not bad either."

Marc wouldn't have let Watts near Steven if it had been otherwise.

"So now he's off dating, what do you do for fun?" Miguel asked.

[hasaknightjob]

"Besides this?" Marc said, holding up his drink. "Haven't figured it out yet. I'm open to suggestions."

Miguel thought about it and shrugged. "I tend to run over the buildings and trees around here. Not sure if that's an option for you? Or I cook or tinker with things. Across the causeway, Baltimore's got some good food. Sometimes I help Rosa with detective things. I don't know; what's your skill set?"

"Killing people," Marc said. What? It was true.

Miguel waited for a few beats to see if anything was getting added to that.

"O-kay." He nodded. "Killing people how and why? Maybe there's something we can broaden that to." With, you know, actual less death.
