Fandom High 20 Year Reunion Brunch, The Park, Sunday

Were you tired of socializing yet? Too bad, because the traditional Sunday brunch was happening in the park! And yes, with some of the... retro robot statues also in attendance.

The weather was good, the food and drink were plentiful, so come one and all for one last chance to meet up with people you hadn't seen for two decades.

(Or to just marvel at all the old people.)

Billy looked at the pad and grinned and then followed suite and finished off the last of the food on his plate.

"Gotta hand it to whoever caters these events. The food is always spot on" he said with a contented grin as he finished the last of the breakfast sandwich he had. "How was yours?" he asked with a nod towards Jon's plate.

Jon looked down at his plate to remind himself what he'd been eating; he hadn't really been paying attention. "It's good. I like the salads. And not having to cook myself." Cooking himself was more frustrating than anything.

Yeah, was probably easier and safer leaving the cooking to others for the most part.

"Cooking is over rated anyways," Billy said with an agreeing nod, though his view was more due to laziness than anything else. "Guess its a good thing there are so many options here on the island for food huh?"

"Yes," Jon agreed. He couldn't at the moment remember what options there were, but he was sure it was good.

He folded his plate and set it aside. "Is there something else we should be doing?"

"Well," Billy said thoughtfully. "We're at the class reunion. We could go see who all showed up and walk around for a bit. Or if you like it right here we can still sit for a bit. I brought my smokes with me (as usual) and I'm pretty sure we're we wouldn't bother anyone if we took a quick smoke break."

Jon patted his pockets and took out his own cigarettes and lighter. A smoke sounded good. He lit his and offered the flame to Billy.

Billy fished his own out and leaned over into the light with a nod of thanks. He then settled back and enjoyed his own for a moment. He still enjoyed the cloves but they had become more of a special occasion type of thing as they were getting harder and harder to find, even in Fandom. But this was definitely a special occasion, and so cloves it was.

After a moment he reached over for the notepad and jotted something down then put it back where it had been laying in the grass. He had written 'ask Martin about ordering more smokes' since it had seemed like Jon' pack was almost empty and he didn't want him running out.

Jon looked down at the list and frowned. "You could have told me to write that. And I can get my own anyway. The store has them." He'd made that trip weekly for decades; some things did eventually stick.

"Of course you can," Billy said with a slight bow of his head. "Apologizes for overstepping, was not my intention," he said sincerely.

Good going Billy, stuck your foot in it again...

Billy gave Jon an apologetic look and then put his focus back on his own cigarette for the time being.

It was okay; Jon would forget about it in a few minutes anyway.

"There are a lot of people here today," he noted.

Billy looked around for a moment and nodded silently.

"Looks like there's an event going on. With a lot of really old people," he added with a slight laugh and a glance over at Jon.

"No older than us," Jon pointed out.

"Well guess what buddy? That means we are old too," Billy said with a grin. "Though, I am sure there are few that are bit older than you and me."

"Never!" Jon grinned. "I'm not old, only..." He double-checked the year on his phone and did the math. "Early fifties. That's solidly middle-aged."

"Aye, solidly..." Billy agreed with a nod. "Making grey look good for decades now right?" he said with a grin in recognition for Jon's early greying and his own now largely greying hair as well.

"One of us, anyway," Jon said. He was under no illusions that he made anything look good.

"Oh come on, Jon," Billy said with a smirk. "I know for a fact Martin thinks you are quite the looker."

"Martin is biased," Jon said, as if he wasn't every bit as convinced that Martin was the most handsome man in the world.

"Oh yes, and he of course is the only one." Billy smiled and turned his attention back to the smoke and people watching for a bit.

He knew Jon would be fine, even when they did finally part ways. But he was still wondering where the heck Martin had gotten off to, and feeling a bit guilty over the fact he was somewhat glad Jon didn't seem to remember how long he had been MIA for by now.
