The abandoned warehouse district, Saturday evening
The flea market had been wrapped up, and as twilight fell over Fandom and most folks made their way down the streets to whatever they were up to for the rest of their weekends, peace seemed to descend over the abandoned warehouse district once more. The balloons were floating at half mast or lower now, and most of the fliers had been taken down or pulled down. The abandoned warehouse was returning to its natural, fallow state.
But it is the way of the universe to tend towards chaos and decay. And buildings left fallow were no exception to the rule.
An old wire sparked. The spark caught. A fire started. It spread.
Good thing most people had already left.
[posted early for timezones! OCD is minor and also ready to go. Ping at will!]

Inside the warehouse
[Feel free to mod your own fire as needed! If you didn't sign up in the post last week but still want to get trapped and rescued, just let us know in the OOC thread so we know to send someone after your character!]
Re: Inside the warehouse
Dude. Maybe I could repurpose one of these for like a rehearsal space? Somewhere I can really jam without worrying about the volume or having to soundproof shit?
She had her headphones on, and was sort of dancing along to the playlist on her phone, so she wasn't really paying much attention to her surroundings. Not until a support beam of some kind came down and toppled a wall panel that came crashing down to trap her in a corner, anyway.

Cutter was still there so he really wasn't going to complain about having more time just hanging out.... that was until he caught a whiff of something.
"Do... you smell that?"

She'd worked her way towards the back when she realized that the comforting wood smokey scent she'd been smelling shouldn't have been here. She wasn't back home with her wood stove after all. She quickly returned the broom and dust pan to the closet in the back and turned only to realize that she was trapped in that area of the building. The fire had sprung up so quickly that it had cut her off from the exits.

"Seattle --" Dammit! "-- uh, Fandom Fire Department! Call out!"
Look, this was his first big fire on the island. He hadn't really had to yell "Fandom Fire Department" before!

This would quickly prove to be a mistake and Stark ended up unable to reach an exit at all, especially once he'd stumbled into a an area with far more flames than he wanted to deal with. Especially once a bit of flaming wreckage briefly knocked him down and led to a burn on his upper arm that he was trying to ignore for the moment. Other things were more important.
"Is there someone there?"
Re: Inside the warehouse
and anyone else that Buck and Eddie don't grab in the meantime, this will be Travis's last thread before the clinic!, Travis and Probie headed back in, determined to clear the scene, even as the fire continued to spread.Travis's adrenaline was roaring, and he felt more alive than he had in ages. "Fandom Fire Department!" he called confidently. "Call out!"

At first, he thought the smell of smoke was just his mind playing tricks on him. Then that it was something from the food booth.
It wasn't until the flames sprung up and Issa ran that Jon realised it was serious. "Damn it. Issa, come back!" And he was off. Probably into a smoky and hard-to-navigate area, because as much as he had bad memories of being burnt, his own skin wasn't as important as hers.

"Sir, can you hear me?" he called out.

The only problem(s) with that were that zombies were slow, zombies were not particularly observant, and zombies were, regrettably, not fireproof. It took them awhile to notice the ever-increasing flames and, ignorant of the danger fire posed to their persons, they tried to shamble through them to the door. The fire didn't hurt them, as they had neither nerve to feel it nor brains to decode the signal, but they were able to figure out that Fire Bad anyway.
Re: Inside the warehouse
It would have been simple to command them to drop to the ground and roll to smother their flames, but Liliana didn't think to do that. Instead she rushed over and began trying to beat out the fire with her bare hands, knocking them over and rolling them about manually until the flames were extinguished.
Unfortunately, her single-minded zeal made it so that she didn't notice (or, perhaps, just didn't care) when the fire eagerly spread to the shattered wood and sawdust her entrance had left behind, blazing up to block that exit, too. Rude of fires.

"No!" she cried out. "No, my darlings!" And picking up her long skirts, she did the very wise and composed thing of running towards the burning warehouse.
[If anybody wants to try to stop her and get knocked aside for their trouble, feel free!]
Incident Command
Re: Incident Command
Re: Incident Command
At least until he caught sight of the balloons and fliers, anyway.
"Crap," he muttered, then louder, in his 'guess I'm in charge' voice: "Looks like there was an event here today. Priority one is clearing the scene, getting any and all civilians evacuated. Buckley, Diaz, stay as close together as possible, and stay on comms. Probie, you're with me. I'm guessing no one's going to cry if we have to sacrifice the building because we were busy saving lives."
There were only the three of them after all. If Fandom wanted to prioritize real estate in these rare situations, it could train up some volunteers or something.
