Caritas; Wednesday [04/12].

Even when she wasn't working at the store on any particular day, Summer had gotten in the habit of at least checking what weird holidays were set for any given day, just because if it got really weird, and something went wrong, she was going to be the one having to deal with it. So when she walked into the bar and found Tino leaning against it over a book, reading glasses perched on his nose and everything, she just assumed it had something to do with D.E.A.R. and groaned.

"Not you, too," she said, coming around to behind the bar to drop off all her jello shots and get set up for the evening. "It's bad enough I have to deal with Apu doing this every week, and now I've got--"

It was then that Summer realized that the book Tino was ready was actually just a blank-paged journal, and she frowned as he flipped a page and seemed very invested in what he was 'reading', and she blinked, considered the glasses, realized he was wearing one of those cardigans with the patches on the elbows, and felt a flash of realization for what was going on here.

"Oh.My.God, Tino," she said, "are you trying to pretend to be an intellectual? Who are you trying to impress? Seriously, though, just a blank book? Couldn't even pull out meta for War and Peace or anything? Ohmygod, that's so sad."

Of course, he ignored her, continuing to 'read', nodding along thoughtfully to the excellent points this imaginary book was making, and she just shook her head and got back to prepping for work.

Although now it was going to bother her. Who was he trying to impress?

Were they better off just not knowing? Ever?

It felt a little weird for Goose coming into the bar that night, the first being that he was actually 21 and now old enough to drink at other bars and that there were very few Wednesdays between now and when he was leaving.

He took his usual seat at the bar, “so because I’m now 21 do you think I could have double shots?” he said hopefully.

"Goose," said Summer, already setting out the first row, "you almost always got double-shots before you were twenty-one. But," she paused, significantly, "you can if you promise me you take advantage of your new legal status by going out somewhere this weekend. Or at least hitting up the DN tomorrow, or something."

“True,” Goose grinned at that, as he went to get his first shot, “but I can definitely go someplace over the weekend, I’ve always been curious about the Devil’s Nest,” he admitted.

"Well," Summer pointed out, "now they've got no excuse to kick you out, so..."

Excuse her a moment while she wistfully looked back on how she never let that stop her, but anyway.

"Did you do anything special? For the actual day? Or just take it easy?"

Annie, whose morning sickness had obediently stayed in the morning as advertised today, was feel pretty good as she headed into Caritas. It was warm enough, too, that she was wearing a comfortable T-shirt, just flowy enough to not strain against her bump, but equally not doing much to hide it. Ten weeks with twins looked more like a single pregnancy entering her second trimester, and more to the point, Annie's comfort was growing all the more important to her.

"I will get all up in your leftover Easter candy," she greeted Summer, eyeing the specials. "And the cake, as long as you're still making virgin versions."

There was something funny about ordering 'virgin' anything because she was pregnant, when she was, you know, not exactly miraculously carrying with the Messiah over here.

Summer would be truly shocked and scandalized to discover that these children were not, in fact, immaculately conceptualized. How could she be friends with such a flagrant harlot, with her perfectly within wedlock offspring? Disgusting.

"Of course I still make virgin ones," Summer assured her, going to fetch a few of those, "and I'll even do you one better."

And plopped a whole bag of Easter candy in front of Annie.

"Take it. Please."

"You're my hero," Annie told her with a gasp that verged on a happy squeak as she immediately took to peeling foil off a little egg. (She would be quietly isolating anything that looked peanut buttery, of course -- that was getting better, but she wasn't out of the woods yet.) "How's it going? I haven't seen you since you stopped being a squirrel."

Which, like, sympathies there, Summer. At least Annie got to be a great big doggie when that happened to her, and she didn't have, like, a great big doggie on this island who was just lurking around waiting for her to be easier to harass once she shared his form, either.

It was Wednesday so of course Stark was there. Holding a pink gift bag and wondering if he was going to be told about any other surprise appointments he had to attend before Friday's prom. Did he need to be freshly shaved? Did he need accessories?

"Hello, Summer," he said, placing the bag on the bartop as he sat down on his stool.

"Hello, Stark," Summer said, not to Stark himself, apparently, but to the bag, because, well, it was a little hard to not notice someone coming in with a pink gift bag and setting it on the bartop. She did play around with the idea of pretending she hadn't, though, but she knew her curiosity was definitely going to get the better of her with this one.

"What's that?" she asked. "Birthday present for Goose?"

What with Stark and Goose being such good friends and whatnot.

"I didn't know it was Goose's birthday," Stark said. "I could give it to him but I'm not sure he'd appreciate it. I didn't get it for him."

He slid the bag a little closer to her.

"You might like it," he said. At least he hoped she might like the plushie gelatinous cube he'd purchased from Steph last week.

Steven and a modded with permission who will ping in on his own Llewellyn came in to Caritas together. Steven took a seat at the bar and Llewellyn took one beside him. As had been habit of late they were not as physically close as they might have been at home but they were still beside each other.

Steven took a look at the specials to see what was on offer.

“Good evening, Miss Smith,” he greeted, around a mouthful of soft pretzel. “How are you tonight?”

"Good evening," said Summer, maybe without the usual pomp and importance that she usually put into it, because there was a bit of an incongruity there, she felt, being so formal when someone couldn't even have the manners enough to not wait until they were finished chewing on something to talk, Watts, god, "Detective Watts. I'm doing very well, thank you. How are you?"

Besides mannerless and hungry, apparently.

Excuse you, he said good evening and asked how you were! That was not mannerless. That he did so around a bite of food was questionable manners, perhaps.

“Once again free to enjoy all manner of flour-containing products.”

He’d been about to say ‘Once again free of dietary restrictions’, but that wasn’t actually accurate, considering he still at the very least avoided meat products in his day to day life, if not anything animal-based entirely.
