Caritas | Wednesday

Annie had arrived at Caritas much, much earlier than she usually did on Wednesday – so early, in fact, that Tino had initially tried to shoo her out before Annie had instead shoved an armload of pink birthday decorations at him and told him to make himself useful.

And thus, by the time Caritas approached its normal opening time, the bar had been fairly covered – haphazardly in spots, and tackily over the top – in pink fringe, pink birthday balloons, a truly silly amount of pink glitter scattered around (thankfully, they still had that vacuum), and a banner draped above the bar.

The specials were a little different from what most people were probably used to, too.

And here was Summer, completely unaware, having spent her day making jello shots like usual for her shift that evening when she wasn't dealing with whatever Anakin threw at them that day, toting in all her boxes and trays of shots inspired by birthday cake and lemonade and chocolate and tomatoes, and walking into an absolutely disgusting pink birthday nightmare that she could not have loved more.

"Oh....mygod."

And that was even before she saw Annie behind the bar, which immediately made way more sense than the idea that briefly crossed her mind that Tino would have done all of this, and she immediately went to the bar to set down her jello shots and really scope the place out from the vantage point it was clearly meant to be experienced from.

"Annie!" she said, turning now toward her with a look and tone of clear delight despite the words themselves. "What the hell!"

"Oh good, you're here," Annie replied, deliberately mild in the face of all of that clear delight. But she had a horrible poker face, and always had, and so she couldn't keep that straight a face for that long. "Here, put these on," she continued, scurrying over as fast as her pregnant ass could manage to brandish some expected accessories at Summer. "Happy birthday, Summer!"

"Ohmygod," said Summer, who was probably going to be saying that a lot tonight, as she got a closer look at what Annie had for her there, and if you didn't think she wasn't immediately decking herself out in that gaudy crap immediately, then you clearly did not know Summer.

But the moment that sash and tiara were set into place, you better believe Summer was doing her own scurrying to throw her arms around Annie and squeeze her as hard as possible without making those two kids growing inside of her just pop out prematurely or get totally crushed.

(She had been working out, but, well, Annie had superstrength, so she'd have to probably work pretty hard at that).

"You suck, and I love it, and ohmygod, does this mean I don't even have to work tonight?"

Truly the best present of all!

"Steven!" Summer greeted, clearly still absolutely delighted by this unexpected turn of the evening, a disposition that was going to maintain itself on the fuel of so...so much alcohol, but it was her birthday....celebration. "Hiiii! Thank you! You remembered!"

Although, even if he hadn't, walking into the bar for the usual Wednesday jaunt would have been a pretty damn good reminder, and no one would be any wiser, except that she figured that Steven was the type of person to totally admit to forgetting instead of just rolling with it as if he hadn't.

Of course Rey was going to make it here for Summer's birthday, heading over as soon as she had a chance, and hopefully Summer didn't mind her going in for a hug. "Happy birthday!"

Stark had been headed to his usual spot but Summer was on the wrong side of the bar and that meant he changed course and headed right for her instead, taking in all of the pinkness as he went.

"You got a party," he said, grinning at her. "Good."

Watts did not need an excuse to stop in to Caritas on a Wednesday, no. So here he was, coming in as usual, and- stopping as soon as he noticed the decor.

Man, if the decor threw him, what was seeing his other favorite bartender, from the other bar, back there going to do to him?

"Hi, Llewellyn," Annie greeted him, coming over to lean a bit on the bar and grin at him. "Welcome to Summer Smith Appreciation Night."

She was workshopping a few different names for this little surprise party.

Steven, who actually had Summer's birthday in mind when planning on going to Caritas, was happy to see the decor that was in honor of it.

(Though he did check his phone and watch to confirm it was Wednesday and that Summer's actual birthday had been Monday, yes.)

Steven took a seat at the bar and looked around to admire it all.

"Hey Steven!" Annie was going to credit having Marc sit at her bar during her shift every week for how fast she knew who this was. She'd come so far! "Can I get you a drink with both strawberry vodka and rosé, or would you like a good drink?"

She kidded, she kidded. (She did not really kid.)

Lucifer's mind was... well, it only held so many dates of importance at once. But he had been sort of shamed into returning to Summer's bar night, and this, was apparently, the bar night he was walking into.
