Caritas; Wednesday [12/06].

Blame it on the horses. Blame it on her class earlier that day. But Summer was spending an awful lot of time musing over how convenient a Tino-specific shrink ray might be, almost to the point where she was contemplating texting her ex to see if he might be able to hook her up with something like that.

It wasn't even as if he was doing anything particular terrible or annoying that evening, either. She was just...thinking it. But...really....could anyone blame her?

"Oh no," Liliana said quickly, lest he get the wrong impression of her. "I most certainly didn't deal with that. I'm not some kind of do-gooder. I'd left Dominaria by that point and that certainly didn't induce me to return. I left the closing of the time rifts to those interested in heroic last stands and other nonsense, thank you."

"Ah that's fair enough I guess. Heroics aren't for everyone..." Sometimes he wondered if he was cut out for all the heroics himself honestly. "Our group at the ARC are the only ones really able to deal with the wibbly-wobbly time stuff. It definitely keeps us busy- sometimes it makes the shenanigans here in Fandom seem like a break."

"Why?" she asked. "Are you the only ones able to deal with it? It's not something that anyone with suitable training could handle?"

"Well, we were the ones who discovered the anomalies and all to begin with. No one else really knows about them... or at least knows the full truth" he admitted. "The government's idea of dealing with the anomalies and the creatures that come through at times tends to be along the lines of 'point the biggest gun or nuke we have at it and fire.' and that doesn't really mix well considering the anomalies open to the past and interfering too much can like, ya know, change reality and present time. So it's just our team that tends to handle it."

It was a government coverup mostly but a rare one done for mostly the right reasons. It was a bit of grey area.

"So you could recruit more people and just stringently require circumspection," Liliana said. You know, unlike just sharing government secrets at a bar.

Though she'd shown up and had immediately started talking about Planeswalking. In her defense, however, a frequent conversation starter on the island was, 'So when and where are you from?' with the expectation that modern-day Earth was an answer in the minority.

"That's one of the reasons I prefer employing zombies," she said. "Discretion is guaranteed."

Yeah there was that... unfortunately Connor wasn't the one pulling the strings, For obvious and really very fortunate reasons ultimately in the grand scheme of things.

"Wait..." Connor said something very specific there catching his attention. "Zombies? Like... the living undead type of zombies?" he asked with a glance towards the resident Zombies of the bar.

"Yes, undead zombies, but I assure you, there are zombies much better than that," Liliana said, following the direction of his gaze and curling her lip. "I don't know what necromancer summoned them, but they did a terribly shoddy job. I believe parts of them are being held together by duct tape."

Liliana would be mortified to let a servitor zombie out in that condition.

"Never thought about it , ya know the idea of there being different types of zombies. A zombie is a zombie" Connor said with a somewhat apologetic smirk, "Course I am just going off what I know of them from media and movies and all. We don't have zombies walking around in real life back home.

And to that other question that had gotten overlooked by the zombie thing... "Ah and home is basically another version of modern earth... early 2000's if that means anything from your perspective."

"I'm a necromancer," Liliana said with a small smile. "It's the equivalent of bringing a botanist into the woods and saying that they're all plants."

She shook her head at his explanation. "I barely know the modern Earth of today, never mind another time period. I haven't left Fandom to explore much of this plane yet."

"Ok now that is cool... little creepy but so cool" Connor said as that sank in. "We definitely don't have anything like necromancers back home!"

Liliana grinned at him and, yes, it was at least an unsettling grin. "Oh, darling, even if you did, I would guarantee that you'd have nothing like me back home."
