Tino was giving Jane exaggerated shocked and confused looks about her coming into the bar to set up for the evening. Because he was Tino and not at all for any other reason. Really

"Okay, okay. So maybe I've been busy," she sighed, hauling one of the kegs that he'd been ignoring down to where it needed to go.

Jane replied with a huff and an eyeroll that was aimed mostly at her response of, "Magic," as she poured him another glass.

Because it was ridiculous. What about science, guys? WHAT ABOUT SCIENCE?

Dean laughed at that. "Not a fan of the hocus pocus?"

"I am an astrophysicist!" she said, tossing her hands in the air like she wasn't wearing Asgardian armor or a cape. "And suitably advanced science can look like magic."

Someone tell that to Loki. So he could laugh.

"Okay, please don't take this the wrong way," Dean said using his most polite manner. "But the last thing I expected you to say was that you're an astrophysicist. Most astrophysicists I've seen don't serve whiskey."

Let alone wear armor or a cape.

Oh no, no one tell Thor that. He'd get so sad and also annoyed and then hug Loki into submission or sometime.

"I'm taking a break from things," Jane admitted. "It's... complicated."

"I am familiar with complicated," Dean said sympathetically. "It's no fun and can definitely be a pain in the ass. Does it have something to do with the cape or armor?"

"It actually does," she admitted. "But hey, I get to be tall for a change. And muscley."

She'd take it. For the height, mostly.

"Nothing wrong with being tall and strong," Dean said admiring the arms. "Goes well with the astrophysicism. Ism."

"You get a drink on the house for that," Jane decided with grin.

"Oh, I don't want to eat into your bottom line," Dean said laughing. "Pour one for yourself and we'll call it even."

"Deal," Jane replied, getting one for herself and another for him. "What brings you here, Dean?"

"Well I don't know if you've noticed but apparently this island is a nexus of time and space," he said, happily taking the next glass. "And my buddy Jack thought it would be a good idea to send me here and make sure nothing bad slipped through into our reality."

He chuckled.

"It's complicated."

Jane gave him a a sympathetic, knowing look at that before nodding and lifting her glass to sip.

"It's complicated," she agreed softly. "Well, here's to you then."

"Sorry, I'm not trying to bring the mood down," Dean apologized. "Honestly I'm happy to be here. Gives me something to do."

Jane laughed and shook her head. "You didn't," she assured him. "I promise."

If anything brought the mood down, it was, you know, the reality of life and all that.

"I hope you're settling in well. I'm lucky and I found someone from home."

Wanda had been a godsend, honestly.

"I've received nothing but a warm welcome from everyone I've met," Dean admitted. "Got a place to live and a new job. Not bad for only being here a day. And you know someone from here? That happen on purpose or just a happy coincidence?"

"More of a friend of a friend," Jane admitted. A friend of an ex, really. "But there are more than one, but it's... complicated. Again."

"Wanda owns the magic shop in town. Magic Box?"

"First I've heard of her or the shop," Dean admitted. "But I'm probably going to look that one up. I need to restock on supplies. If I tell her I know you will she give me a discount?"

"If you see her, you can say Jane sent you," Jane agreed. "Are you--?"

"Yes, Jane. I am a finger wiggler," Dean said solemnly before cracking a grin. "Nah, I'm not a wizard or anything. I hunt... uh. Let's just say things that go bump in the night. Probably not anything an astrophysicist would by into."

Jane snorted at that.

"My ex is an Asgardian god," she replied dryly. "And I'm now currently... replacing him. In a way."

She was fine. It was fine. Nothing at all about still being hung up on anyone.

Okay. That gave Dean a moment's pause.

"Wait. Did you say you're replacing an Asgardian God?"

Jane let out a long sigh that just spoke volumes.

"Thor? He, well, his hammer was shattered. But it came back together for me," she said, hefting Mjolnir up from behind her.

It wasn't romantic at all. Shut up.

"Wow. Okay," Dean said looking impressed. "I've had a few run in with some Norse gods. Odin and Loki were kind of dicks. Didn't meet Thor but I doubt he was as pretty as you."

Then again Dean hads't met a god that looked like Chris Hemsworth.

Jane snorted because, yes. Odin and Loki were super dicks. Well. Loki was... kind of complicated. Mostly because of a lot of factors.

"It certainly makes me more blond," she agreed with a laugh. "Freya was nice..."
