So, this was Summer's first pollen week while single in three years, so she was thinking thigns could get a little interesting at her Caritas shift that evening.

Good interesting? Bad interesting?

(Even worse. not interesting at all??)

She had no idea, so she was trying not to think about it, or build up any expectations, to keep herself simultaneously prepared for everything and for nothing at all. Which left a pretty big, obnoxious knot in her stomach.

Although that could also just be from working in all-too-close proximity of Tino and the realization that, especially without the 'I have a boyfriend!' shield, that could theoretically happen tonight.

Yeah, okay, she was definitely going to just focus on making drinks and slinging jello and insisting this was an absolutely normal Wednesday night, until something started to look decidedly more advantageous for her.

Well, maybe with a little help from the specials tonight. What? She was nothing if not an opportunist.

Summer was just going to sort of stare at that text for a moment, and then shake her head.

They were literally just playing music, she just thought she was funny. Granted, it was more suggestive than their usual background fare, and, yes, that probably wouldn't last all night, but, like, she just go there? And seriously, Atton, you absolute coward.

This was not Dean’s first trip to Caritas but it was the first time it had Jell-O shots.

Tempting. It has been years since he has one.

“Could I have a whiskey please?”

Hey, the night was still young. Plenty of time for Jell-O shots and poor decisions.

Atton was a large cocktail of emotional and psychological issues held in a delicate balance, and this would not be the first time he'd spent this type of week trying to avoid anything that might upset that balance. (So far he had always failed, but look. He tried.)

Oh, yeah, because it would be super hard for Margo fucking Hanson to pull numbers this week.

"Well, I can definitely help with one of those now," said Summer, as she set down a shot in front of her, and really, really hoping she wasn't wasting that line she'd been prepping pretty much with all those specials on Margo's...well...Margo-ness,, but also she had no shame, she had no qualms about reusing it, "but the other one might have to wait 'til I get out."

The smile was almost apologetic. Almost. The rest of her expression in being reminded of just what Margo looked like pretty much canceled everything else out.

"Margo. Good to see you."

“Hey! Hey! It’s her royal majesty,” Dean said raising a glass to Margo. “What’s hoppening? Still wabbit season?”

It would not be hard. It was just a pain in the ass to suddenly have to. And sometimes you just didn't want to leave the house for a hook-up. Seriously, get a best friend you could no-strings bang, it was perfect.

"Summer, hey," Margo said, reaching for the shot, thinking about it (and thinking about Stark, particularly), and then decided to pick up the thinking after she'd downed the shot.

Which she did. First.

"No ducking out for sex breaks, huh?"

Any disappointment that Summer felt over someone straying so distinctly from that expertly cultivated specials board, thank you very much, was immediately swept away when she actually saw who was ordering it.

Because, um, hello, who-slash-what was this, now? Like fresh fucking blood in the water, and she was suddenly feeling like quite the shark.

Momentarily distracted, Summer shook her head, remembered why she was here, and gave Dean a grin. "Well," she said, picking out something nice, "since you asked so nicely.

"Neat?" she guessed.

Margo rolled her eye. "I've sent three," she said. "If it doesn't reach him, then the fuckery is beyond my abilities."

She looked at him. Ugh, he was annoyingly hot. "You think up those cracks all by yourself, or did daddy help you?"

Because Summer could, at times, be merciful.

And then she could also immediately reneg on that:

The 'disgusting' in this case was the (affectionate) flavor, to be fair, rather than this morning's class, where it had been a definite (derogatory).

i hate this week. I don't know whether to lock myself in my hotel room or just go lay down in the bay and hope for things to cool down.

Hey, now, Summer had--

--Well, okay, no, not quite, she still found herself having to aggressively snip strings that kept trying to form, but, whatever, tonight was for actively avoiding literally everything involving that.

Summer deftly set down another shot as a suggestion if Margo should feel so inclined and then shrugged a shoulder.

"I'm trying to keep myself open," she said, "to whatever comes up. I'd like to have a little more class than just setting up a revolving door to the back office, Eric Northman-style, but it's not seeming like such a bad idea at the moment."

Summer had just about to send something snarky in response to that first part, but then that second part hit her phone, and it was promptly deleted.

And a good deal of debate before she finally hit send on what replaced it.

Apparently Summer liked that kind of strings upkeep. Margo, not so much, which was why she continued to be extremely satisfied with her decision not to talk to Stark for a month after their own hook-up last year.

It saved discomfort.

"I mean, you could always put some mood lighting in the back," Margo drawled. "Maybe hang up some tastefully lewd paintings or something."

She leaned back. "But for the record, I'm still game for being an option." This didn't feel like a 'beat around the bush' kind of a week.

Atton sighed. He eyed the text. He sighed again, mostly for drama's sake, even though he was the only one who could hear it.

But hey, at least her honesty meant he had to drop the ranty attitude for five seconds.

“Ooh, a bad joke is better than a cheesy pickup anyway,” Dean said signaling Tino to get Margo another refill. “Besides we’re hunting buddies now. Comes with the territory.”

When Tino came with the drink, Dean pushed it in front of Margo. “Don’t give up hope. Sometimes these things need time to work out.”

Debatably, it was just that one of those strings just felt like a safety cord, but, again, not examining it, she was going to save that for her therapist.

"And I am very game for taking you up on that option," said Summer, very much in agreement about shooting straight into that bush.

“I usually like things messy,” Dean said giving her the once over. “But for the Whiskey? Sure. Why not?”

He leaned back on his barstool. “You must be Summer. You come highly recommended.”

Oh. Right. “As a bartender.”
