The Ballroom in Avengers Tower (But Make It Bitty), Friday Night

The ballroom was positively sparkling with glitter and the light off of the brand new chandelier for the occasion. (Which should really come as a surprise to no one considering how many chandeliers they'd cycled on through for previous events.)

In preparation to the many amateur skaters they were anticipating, the half-sized walls around the skating rink--now located below the chandelier and taking up three quarters of the normal ballroom space--were well-padded.

There were drinks and appetizers and plenty of good music ready for people to come in and have a fun evening out if they were so inclined! Time to roller disco!

"Nice cane," the other guy at this party with a cane (although his looked nowhere near so snazzy) said. "Hey, Ignis, right? It's Don Blake. We were both in Navaan's, uh...thing. I struggle to call it a class."

Well, Ignis was never going to let such a small thing like not being able to see stop him from being fashionable.

"Thank you," he said with a nod, followed by a faint huff and a shake of his head. "And, yes, there is a reason I haven't bother resuming attendance in that...class."

Well, there were several reasons, actually.

"A title I deign only because there's no denying that we all have learned something, but I'm quite positive none of it is what she intended for us to learn. But, yes, that's correct, Ignis. A pleasure to formally meet you, Don," and he held out his hand after shifting the cane,a rare opportunity to initiate a handshake...well, assuming Don hadn't already offered his own hand, "and in significantly more favorable circumstances than we might have otherwise."

"I just treated it as entertainment value and that worked pretty well," Don said. "For the most part. My medical ethics were screaming in terror some of the time. Oh, uh, I'm a doctor," he explained. "A surgeon, not...acorns."

He had not, in fact, attempted to initiate a handshake, or he would have told Ignis so, and now he returned said handshake with a firm grip of his own. "Pleased to meet you properly, as well."

"I do actually believe," Ignis realized, "that it might have been your class I was meant to be taking. The First Aid one? On Mondays? But there was, clearly, a most regrettable and grevious error on the processing of my paperwork."

"That's me," Don confirmed. "I suppose you can only expect so much from a moose." Processing paperwork was probably hard when you had hooves. "I'm planning on teaching an extension next term, but it's more, uh. Focused on complex situations, I guess you could say." Was he already trying to figure out how to adapt the class to work with a blind student? Yes. Was it challenging? Also yes.

"I may have to try my luck again, then," Ignis decided with a nod. "Ypu see, most of my experience comes as a member as a royal guard or a...well, it's Fandom, there's no point in mincing words, but daemon hunter, quite often in a supportive and medical capacity. Complex is what I strive on, but I do worry, now that danger is....slightly less imminent and pressing...about keeping those skills honed and sharpened."

"It's never a bad idea," Don agreed. "One of the local firefighters was in my last class." It gave him something to do. "Technically Navaan's class was supposed to be continuing education for me, but, uh, well. You were there."
