Fandom Island Museum, Thursday Daytime

There was a new delivery of Fandom Island Museum postcards and fridge magnets come in. Inventory wasn't the most glamorous of jobs, but in this case Steven didn't mind counting through them all to make sure the numbers were right. Once that was done he'd get them set up on the displays for sale.

It was easy enough work, though it did require concentrating. So any visitors who came in and needed Steven would likely find him behind the desk, frowning and counting under his breath as he counted.

Watts had been about to announce himself with his customary greeting when he noticed how deep in concentration Steven seemed to be with the counting. Not wanting to distract him, Watts simply stood and waited to be noticed.

At the moment Steven had a pencil in his mouth. There was a line of concentration across his forehead as he flicked through postcards, muttering, " Ninety-eight, ninety-nine, one hundred!"

Steven looked triumphant at that result. He took the pencil out of his mouth to jot something down on a notepad, then carefully set the postcards he was counting to the side with small, similarly-sized piles.

Then he noticed Llewellyn. "Oh! Hello, you."

"Hello, you," Watts replied. "Is this a good time to take a break?" he checked. He could wait a little if there was more counting to be done first.

"Perfect timing," Steven said. He gestured to the stacks of postcards he'd already gone through. "See? All lined up, ready for display. Got them in this morning. The magnets as well. Visitors like them. Easy souvenir to send people."

"I have noticed the magnets seem to be very popular in shops geared towards tourists," Watts noted. "When we travel, I mean."

"Yes!" Steven said, pleased Llewellyn had noticed. "They're easy to carry, you see. Don't take up much space in your luggage. Reasonable price as well. Some even collect them."

"Like the ones y- we have on the refrigerator," Watts said. Steven was more inclined to collect postcards, it was true, but their fridge did sport a few novelty magnets alongside those advertising this or that restaurant or service.

Steven smiled at him. "Yes. Like the ones we have."

Well it wasn't as if Watts had contributed any! That was Steven's and possibly even Marc's work, there. Hence the slight hesitation. Still, Steven emphasizing the we made him feel warm and pleased. "Could I purchase one?" he asked. "A magnet, that is."

Steven looked delighted. "One of these? Right now?"

"Yes," Watts nodded. "For our fridge." No hesitation on the pronoun that time!

"Absolutely!" Steven said. He stood up to get one of the magnets from off of the display, then set about ringing it up and wrapping it in some brown paper for safe keeping. He was smiling from ear to ear as he did it.

"Many thanks," Watts said with a smile of his own, tipping his hat slightly at Steven.

Steven beamed at him. "Would you like the special gift with purchase for our VIP member?"

"Oh?" Watts replied. "I am intrigued, certainly. Tell me more?"

Steven put out the sign that said he was going on break. "Perhaps as we walk to lunch?"

Watts thusly deposited his hat on the desk with a flourish. "I look forward to hearing about it. In great detail," he said, as he held out his arm.

Steven smiled and took the offered arm gladly. "To start, it's very exclusive. Only one person is allowed to have it."

"I had hoped you might say something like that," Watts admitted.

"Oh yes," Steven said. "Very Important Person, you see. Singular."

"I like that," Watts said. "Very specific."

"In fact there was considerable debate about what to call it," Steven said. "To be sure it was specific enough."

"What were some of the other options?" Watts wondered.

[hasaknightjob]

"Very Important Llewellyn," Steven said. "Which is true but does imply that it's only for people named Llewellyn, you see."

"And hopefully you don't know too many Llewellyns?" Watts asked.
