Well, a man could only ride that whole found family high for so long before the the reality of staying with Wade Wilson and his seventy something, cocaine addicted roommate started to kick in. The itchy feeling of needing to move on was always there, even as he stubbornly refused to give in this time.

But Wilson was better at observing things than Logan really felt he ought to be or he was eager for a little privacy as he and his girl were circling around each other to figure out what they were now. Could have been a bit of both, honestly. And then meant a place of his own close enough to get dragged into whatever bullshit was happening around the little group he had if the need arose. (And for Laura to keep an eye on him too. Not that Logan would acknowledge that was a thing she needed to do.)

But the castle? Hadn't expected the castle.

"He better not have sent me to fucking EuroDisney."

This was a new reaction, turns out! She didn't quite know what to do with it.

"Like what?" he asked, sort of just grasping at those straws to not be a weird mess about things.

He'd had character growth and everything! Madonna was involved.

"Throwing people from different universes at each other," she said. "My Logan would have told me he was coming."

"Right," he agreed, taking a deep breath because he wanted to and not because he needed to. "Different universes."

One where he wasn't a fuck up. Most of them were apparently like that. Maybe it was the added height that was throwing off the balance.

"Like skinny Gambit."

Maybe he was wearing lifts.

"Is your Gambit not skinny?" Kitty asked.

"The one I met was broader. Less intelligible." Don't be a hater, Logan. That sort of talk was for Wade.

"You get used to it," she said. "There's a few of us around here."

"Us?" She mean the X-Men or mutants in general. "How many?"

So he could avoid them and not be a sulky, traumatized by his own actions baby.

"Under ten? And I think all from different places and spots in the timeline," Kitty told him. "You'll probably meet pretty much everyone."

"Right. I think I'm from a different one than all of you."

"Probably. Are you here on purpose?" Normal question.

"I thought I was, but now I'm questioning that." He was going to punch Wade so hard for this. Maybe. It was complicated.

"That weird a day?" she guessed.

Interacting with people who died back where he was from? Yes. Very weird.

"You could say that."

It would take a lot more to unlock his terrible backstory. If he ever managed to say anything about it here. Which seemed unlikely.

"I could say I've had weirder, but that's been my last month with no sign of stopping."

"I yay been happening the last month?"

She figured it'd tell her where he was in the timeline, she didn't realize it was kind of a loaded question.

"Just some universe stuff. It's not important." Because, yes! Yes, it was loaded! "I'm here now."

In a universe where the him was dead. And he was the replacement.

"Good," Kitty smiled. "I'll never turn down having a Logan around."
