The mechanical bull was still sort of going, in the way where when you least expected it, it'd move with a slow and very spooky creeeeeeak that would startle everyone. So there was a repair guy in tonight. A mechanical bull repair guy.

It shouldn't have been awkward except he'd started off saying "It looks like it was ridden hard and put away wet, which is terrible for the gears" and after that he just kept making the occasional bull pun. But it was getting fixed. Hopefully. Please be getting fixed, he'd been here for hours.

Caritas was open, just ignore the back room please.

"The hell is that noise?" He would never ignore that, Kitty. Never.

"Probably the guy fixing the mechanical bull," she said, casually, getting an beer out.

It's like she knew him!

"This place has a mechanical bull?" Logan asked like he hadn't been in way sketchier bars before.

"Yeah, back room with the stripper pole," she said, setting said beer on the bar for him. "Oh, and the darts."

He paused at the stripper pole, but then moved onto a little shrug at the darts. Darts weren't terrible.

"And then the zombies too."

"I inherited the zombies," Kitty said. "I don't even know how it all happened anymore."

Well the bull at least was completely her own fault.

"You inherited the zombies?" Logan repeated around a swig of his beer.

Kitty shrugged. "They came with the place."

"Uh huh." This was all dumb and ridiculous and he hoped you knew that, Kitty.

"They're fine. They make their music, you Febreze them on a timer, everybody leaves each other alone."

Come on, Logan. C'Mon.

You couldn't make him!

"They're still corpses. They smell like corpses with Fabreeze on top."

"But the Febreze makes it less bad."

GIVE HER THIS, LOGAN.

"It really does not." Look, if he was cursed to smell this, he was going to bitch about it. Constantly.

"All right, what would make it better? Save for getting rid of the zombies," she added.

"That was gonna be the suggestion." Of course it was!

"They are trusted employees," she said.

"You pay them?"

No, no. They were paid in exposure. Like all shitty, struggling bands.

"Don't think about it any further than that," she advised.

But now he had to!

"But what do they even do with the money?"

"They put it back into their music."

It was art, okay. This all made sense.

Logan looked over at the stage and then back at Kitty. And his expression said he really didn't think the music deserved the pay either.

"They're in an experimental phase."
