Fandom High Prom - Part I

City Hall is aglow with the light from the torches. Streamers in blue and yellow line the way for students towards the ballroom. Inside, hangings and other decorations represent the Lost Cities. A working volcano stands in Krakatoa's corner. Seven DVD players are projecting 3D images of the cities as well. And streamers, glitter, candles, balloons, and lights are everywhere.

Prom has begun.

Hamlet glares a little at Boone and then focuses his attention back to Duo.

"Is there any chance you could set it up to spew real flames?"

Duo gives a reassuring smile and quick wave to the poor soul on the receiving end of one of Hamlet's glares.

He then gets an excited gleam in his eyes. "Real flames?" He grins mischieviously. "Yellow or blue, my friend?"

Hamlet grins just a bit in his I'm-not-entirely-sane way.

"Blue would be better. They'd go very nice with the decorations in the area. It's a shame we can't get to produce real lava as well."

"Hmmm." Duo thinks. "Well, lava is just molten rock right?" He grins.

"You're right. It is." He thinks that over and then looks at Duo with a grin. "Think you can manage it?"

"Manage what?" Parker is wansering by, and she heard the words 'real lava.' "Duo. Hamlet. You look spiffy. Please don't make me kill you."

Duo looks up from where he may or may not be drawing possible modifications on a buster rifle to get it to heat something to 2000°F.

"Hi there, Miss Parker! Is someone getting killed?" He asks innocently.

"Anyone who sets off the sprinkers? Gets thrown in the volcano. Anyone who ruins my hair? Gets thrown to the ducks," she warned him. "Wanna try doing that on your own time, genius?"

Hamlet nods a ticked off Parker is a scary thing. "We wouldn't do anything to ruin the dance. I'm sure we'd have an angry if well dressed mob after us with pitchforks if we did any such thing."

He considers. "On our own time, however..."

Parker facepalmed, then shook her head. "Get it to two a. m., and then do whatever-- where I can't see it. Have fun. Bye."

She turned around and made a note to leave the building by then.

Duo waves eagerly and grins. "Of course, Miss Parker!" He calls after her. He pauses, then calls again. "Not that we were planning on doing, uh, anything, anyway!"

Hamlet smirks. "No, of course we weren't. We have plenty of other interesting things to do at the prom."

He checks his watch. "...until two o'clock in the morning comes around."

Duo grins. "Besides, I have to finish figuring out blueprints first."

"So what should we do while you're figuring out the specifics? Make fun of the people on the dance floor? See if we can get some punch? Annoy more people?"

"Hey, punch sounds good! And I can still work on these." He says and holds up his papers with a grin.
