Fandom High Prom - Part I

City Hall is aglow with the light from the torches. Streamers in blue and yellow line the way for students towards the ballroom. Inside, hangings and other decorations represent the Lost Cities. A working volcano stands in Krakatoa's corner. Seven DVD players are projecting 3D images of the cities as well. And streamers, glitter, candles, balloons, and lights are everywhere.

Prom has begun.

He snickered, drawing her a little closer so they could actually dance - or at least move in a vague approximation of same. "So, is there a lucky date this time?"

"Unless getting hit on by the photographer counts," she half grinned and rolled her eyes,"no."

Krycek laughed. "Yeah, the guy's kind of... Skeezy, isn't he?" He twirled her, grinning suddenly. "You know, for a small town, Fandom carries some glamorous dresses."

"He was funny at least. Can't wait to see how the pictures turn out." D'anna laughed as she spun out. "Do you honestly think Parker would consent to living somewhere that didn't?"

"When you're right, you're right," he agreed. When he pulled her back close, Krycek smiled. "Are you enjoying prom otherwise?"

"And don't you forget it," D'anna winked. She settled gently into his embrace. "Kinda wish I weren't a dateless wonder, but otherwise, yeah. You?"

"Yeah," he said thoughtfully. "And you know, if I weren't..." Krycek trailed off, fairly sure what he meant was pretty obvious.

"Yeah, I know." She sighed and laid her head on his shoulder. "Why are the good ones always taken or gay? Or taken and gay, as the case may be?"

Well, even if he wasn't, for all intents and purposes... Krycek smiled and patted her back gently as they swayed. "Not all the good ones - or you'd be taken."

"Thanks." D'anna smirked. "A girl couldn't ask for a better pal." She gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
