Fandom High Prom - Part I

City Hall is aglow with the light from the torches. Streamers in blue and yellow line the way for students towards the ballroom. Inside, hangings and other decorations represent the Lost Cities. A working volcano stands in Krakatoa's corner. Seven DVD players are projecting 3D images of the cities as well. And streamers, glitter, candles, balloons, and lights are everywhere.

Prom has begun.

"Yep," Molly said as she kept up with Jake as best she could. "Super strength. So, feel free to cut loose. I won't let you fall, if I can help it."

Jake grinned. "It think this is about as much cutting loose as I feel comfortable doing in public. Aaand," she lifted her hand higher. "Twirl."

Molly giggled and twirled under the other girl's arm. She was amazed that she managed to do it without tripping on her hem.

Jake moved her feet, following Molly. She beamed. "This is going well, isn't it?" she said, and tripped over her own feet.

Molly started to nod in answer to Jake's question, but then quickly reached out to try and stop her from falling. "Oh!"

It was no use, the dresses got in the way and got tangled and, well, they fell down.

"Damnit," said Jake, pouting.

Molly couldn't help but laugh. Seeing Jake's pout though, she stopped quickly.

"I'm sorry, Jake. Too much skirt, not enough balance. You okay?"

"Oh sure." Jake waved a hand at her. "I'm... not really sure how to get back on my feet though."

She frowned down at her legs. Stupid shoes.

"Once again, real glad I didn't try for heels," Molly said as she stood up with only a small amount of difficulty.

Once she was standing, she reached down a hand to help Jake up.

Jake clasped her hand. "You are so much smarter than me," she sighed, pulling herself up with Molly's help.

Molly chuckled. "I was worried enough about tripping on my hem while dancing. The last thing I needed to worry about was falling down every two feet because I don't know how to walk in heels properly."

"Oh, I can walk in them," Jake said, brushing her shiny white dress clean of floor dust. "It's everything else I'm shaky on."

Molly watched Jake brush dust off herself and was too curious not to ask. "Doesn't it... feel weird to be a girl when you're normally a guy all the time?"

"It's kind of... Yes, it does, actually." Jake nodded, and surprisingly didn't bring up kinky scrapbooking this time, since she really, really didn't want to talk about it with a fourteen year old. "But I get used to it, and it's only a little weirder than being a guy not myself. Um. It's like playing dress-up, I guess?"
