Fandom High Prom - Part I

City Hall is aglow with the light from the torches. Streamers in blue and yellow line the way for students towards the ballroom. Inside, hangings and other decorations represent the Lost Cities. A working volcano stands in Krakatoa's corner. Seven DVD players are projecting 3D images of the cities as well. And streamers, glitter, candles, balloons, and lights are everywhere.

Prom has begun.

Hamlet rolled his eyes. Might as well just get this over with sooner instead of later.

He stuck out his arms one by one and then flipped them over.

Petulantly.

"Smile, or you're doing it wrong," Rory said, still pouting.

Anakin gave her a very, very small smile.

Then did the hip wiggle thing, blushing to his hair.

Hamlet gives something between a smile and a grimace, and then does the little hop & turn.

"This is so embarrassing..."

"No it isn't. Try it in a dress," Rory countered, dancing happily.

He smirks a little at that. "I suppose that would be worse. I can only imagine what trying to do this 'dance' would be like for someone in a very short skirt."

Arms out, touch the shoulders. Hey, this had kind of a pattern to it.

"The heel and dress combination is bad as it is. We should all be pleased that I am the epitome of grace," Rory said, flailing a little as she danced.

Anakin bit his lip to hide a smirk.

Shimmy, shimmy, hop.

He couldn't believe he was doing this.

"There needs to be singing, too," Rory said as she shimmied shinily.

Shimmy, shimmy, hop. Hey, there was a pretty good rhythm to this.

"You never specified anything about singing to this. And besides--" Shimmy, shimmy, hop. "--all of the words seem to be in Spanish."

"I'm hopping around and wiggling my ass," Anakin complained. "There will be no singing."

Rory made the sad face again. "Remind me to teach you to bunny hop."

"Does this have anything to do with a pie-loving klepto?" he asked, still doing the hand gestures like an idiot.

"Would that mean you'd have to steal things and eat pie while dancing?" asks Hamlet, still doing the ridiculous moves.

"You know, in Fandom, it would," Rory said thoughtfully - or as thoughtfully as one can while doing the Macarena. "But no, it's a dance kind of like this one. Sort of."

Hamlet looks at Rory in horror. "They have more dances like this?"

"Absolutely not," Anakin said firmly.

While shimmying.

So it might not have been the most convincing statement ever made.

"But it's fun," Rory whined.

"I remain unmoved," Anakin said, hopping around. He glanced over at the band. "How long is this song, anyway?"

"Endless," Rory said as the song drew to a close.

"Far too long," says Hamlet, still doing the stupid shimmying.

Anakin stopped dancing immediately and fussed with his tie.

If anyone asked about this, he'd deny it like a denying thing.

Hamlet looks over at Anakin. "Let's the two of us pretend that that whole thing never happened."

"What happened?" Anakin said, looking innocent.

Hamlet nods. "Right."
