Fandom High Prom - Part I

City Hall is aglow with the light from the torches. Streamers in blue and yellow line the way for students towards the ballroom. Inside, hangings and other decorations represent the Lost Cities. A working volcano stands in Krakatoa's corner. Seven DVD players are projecting 3D images of the cities as well. And streamers, glitter, candles, balloons, and lights are everywhere.

Prom has begun.

[ooc: Wait for the OCD threads or suffer my wrath. Done! But please wait for the music threads to go up before dancing. Prom II will be going up in about two hours. Later.]

"Then endeavor I shall to rise to the occasion and be as witty as I can be." He continued to lead her around the dance floor with the fluidic movements of a seasoned dancer. "So was that your date I saw you with earlier?"

"No, actually I only met him this evening although I've seen him around once or twice." Isabel shrugged, "I'm actually here on my own this evening."

"Ahhh," he said and spun them around. "An unfortunate side effect of a) there being more boys than girls, b) there being a significant portion of the male population who prefer the male population, and c) aliens." He shrugged. "A sad and sorry state of affairs - sometimes literally."

"I claim no responsibility for this. I would have at least left one or two guys available for arm candy purposes," Isabel laughed. "Hopefully there will be some dateable boys here this summer though. Otherwise I might as well transfer to the all girl boarding school my father talked about."

"I wanted to go to an all-girls boarding school too," Hawkeye reminisced. "But it wasn't meant to be. As for summer, enrollment is looking bright, sparkly and full of some very interesting people."

"I'm glad I passed on the all girls school. To have missed this place...." She snickered, "Of course if my father ever found out about my roommate, I'd be in a convent."

"I'm looking forward to the summer and can only wonder when the term interesting is used around here."

"Considering who your roommate is here with, I think he may not have to worry. And yes, 'interesting' is one of the more polite terms I've used for this place in my letters to my Dad. Even hundreds of miles away, he'd expected me to wash my own mouth out with soap if I really said what I thought. Either that, or he'd try to get me to see a shrink."

"Aren't they cute? I'm so glad Xander is staying for the summer," she smiled. "My letters and calls home to my parents are very vague for just that reason. Although I've told my brother. I'm still not sure he believes me."

"If anyone did believe this place existed without seeing it, they either have an enormous amount of faith and I have a priest-friend who should know about their extrordinary ways, or they're just plain nuts. Personally, I'm leaning towards the latter."

"Well Max does have a bit of an advantage, remember we already knew that aliens were real. But he doesn't believe me when I tell him we have a muppet chicken working in the cafeteria."

"You should get him to stop by and take a look for himself. Muppet chickens, zombie musicians and a locker that spews out random items and hands of poker. Sounds crazy, right?"

"I might, maybe over the summer. He needs to have his world view expanded some more. A Muppet chicken and a talking cat would certainly help. Will you be staying on over the summer?"

"For some of it at least. Administrators administrate, even when classes aren't in. There's fresh meat for the grinder to deal with, summer camp, paperwork. Besides, someone needs to put the fish food in Dean Zordon's tank every day. I don't think those weekend goldfish feeding cubes will last long enough."

Isabel laughed at that mental image and made a mental note to tell Peter about it. "They are a bit weetiny. More bunny-sized then floating head-sized," she said as the song ended. Thank you for the dance Hawkeye, I appreciate it."

"Any time, Isabel. You floated on air. No toe-stomping. Have a wonderful evening."

"I will, you to!" she said as she headed towards the punch table (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/787835.html?thread=30321531#t30321531).
