Fandom High Prom - Part I

City Hall is aglow with the light from the torches. Streamers in blue and yellow line the way for students towards the ballroom. Inside, hangings and other decorations represent the Lost Cities. A working volcano stands in Krakatoa's corner. Seven DVD players are projecting 3D images of the cities as well. And streamers, glitter, candles, balloons, and lights are everywhere.

Prom has begun.

"It's supposed to be special," Rory said with a little shrug. "'Specially for you guys as seniors. Aren't you nostalgic or sad or anything?"

Logan shrugged. "Not yet."

"Are you staying for the summer thingy?" Rory asked.

"Nope," Logan said. "Got places to go, things to see, people to do." He shrugged. "You sticking around, or going back to Connecticut?"

"Staying," Rory said, pouting a little.

"We'll miss you," she said after a beat, a little more heavily than she'd intended.

Logan gave her a wry smile. "We?"

"Yes. Me and Vladdie," Rory said, smiling.

This got a genuine smile from Logan. "I'll miss you guys, too."

"You'll visit," Rory said. It wasn't a question.

"Of course," Logan said. He kissed her lightly on the forehead.

Rory smiled up at him, moving a tiny, tiny bit closer. "Good. Because otherwise I'm going to just have to hound you with emails, and that doesn't sound pleasant, does it?"

"There are worse things," Logan smiled.

"So what are you doing next year, school-wise?" Rory asked, because segues are overrated.

"School-wise, not a thing," Logan said. "Gonna take a break for a bit."

Rory looked vaguely horrified.

Logan laughed at her expression. "College isn't required, you know."

"No, I just don't understand not wanting to," Rory explained, coloring a little.

Logan laughed again. "You're adorable," he said.

Rory raised an eyebrow. "I suppose that's better than 'bookish and/or a nerd,' or something in that vein," she said, blushing a little more.
