Fandom High Prom - Part I

City Hall is aglow with the light from the torches. Streamers in blue and yellow line the way for students towards the ballroom. Inside, hangings and other decorations represent the Lost Cities. A working volcano stands in Krakatoa's corner. Seven DVD players are projecting 3D images of the cities as well. And streamers, glitter, candles, balloons, and lights are everywhere.

Prom has begun.

[ooc: Wait for the OCD threads or suffer my wrath. Done! But please wait for the music threads to go up before dancing. Prom II will be going up in about two hours. Later.]

Janet went from giggling to laughing. "Skeeter fell asleep behind her desk on Friday," said Janet. "I had a bag of glitter. Shortly thereafter, it all ended up on her. Chloe got pictures."

"Okay, for sheer risk, that beats the cheerleaders in the locker room story," Sam said, still laughing, "and you should really consider using your abilities for good sometime."

"The cheerleaders only wish they had the ability to turn me into some kind of small, easily squishable animal," said Janet cheerfully. "Using my abilities for good, huh? How do you propose I do that? Though I think glittering Skeeter counts as a good thing by just about anyone's standards."

"I have no idea," she shrugged, "especially since I still need your powers for evil for at least one more project I have in mind."

"And yes, it is," she said, smirking. "But try putting it on your college apps."

"Ooh, a project," said Janet, looking interested. "Share, Sam. Are you planning actual mischief?"

"Alas, I think 'clinic aide' looks better than 'glitter fiend.'" She stuck her tongue out at Sam.

"Revenge," Sam whispered, "On Professor Lyman. Do you know what I had to go through because I fell asleep during a boring lecture? I mean, it was on Supreme Court cases, Janet! And I was threatened with death at least three times!"

"You know it does, though glitter fiend would definitely give you something original to talk about during the entrance interview."

"Didn't you just have to go through detention?" asked Janet in a quiet murmur. "Not that I won't help, of course." She paused, remembering Sam in the library the other day. "Does this have anything to do with the Congressional Record?"

"I suppose it might weigh with the admissions people," said Janet. "Though I have to confess, I don't know if they'd all appreciate my sense of humor."

"Yes, but it was way more detention than my few minute nap warranted," Sam argued, "and yes, it does. I'm wallpapering Professor Lyman's office with it."

"Wait, was that the day with the little kids in detention?" asked Janet, trying to remember the radio broadcast that far back. "Good idea. Any way you can make his laptop play endless reruns of Republican speeches too?"

"Yes, that was that day," Sam grumbled, "like hell, but stickier."

"See," she said, grinning, "this is why I keep you around. You get the best ideas."

Janet smiled. "Oh, come on, they're just kids," she said.

"You're the computer genius responsible for implementing it, though," said Janet. "But thank you."

Sam shuddered. "They are not just kids, Janet. My niece and nephew were never anything like that."

"That bad, huh?" asked Janet. "Glad the only detention I got was with Professor Dream. That wasn't too bad."

"Hey, I wasn't the one there!" exclaimed Janet, laughing. "So if you say it was that bad, it was that bad! Me, I got to take a nice nap. And lunch was great. All I had to do was a bunch of schoolwork, which wasn't so bad."

"I'm a horrible person," confessed Janet, giggling along with Sam.

"Absolutely horrible," Sam agreed, "and I think your date's waiting for you."
