Caritas - Open [6/27]

Veronica was still running on nerves and caffeine when she got to work. She was grateful to see Tino was back from wherever he'd been, though he snorted at her when she asked if he'd had a nice vacation.

Aaron hadn't appeared to her again since Anakin chased him off. She was hoping that was a good sign, even though Piper hadn't been able to help her.

Anders dropped onto the neighboring stool and ordered each of them a Bailey's. "Because Blair is going to get drunk for the first time tonight and it should be a memorable occasion, McKnight."

"Fine," grumbled Conner, "but we're so not doing a repeat performance of Sunday night, got it?"

And that would be the precise moment Veronica walked over to get their drinks.

"What can I get you boys?" she asked, casting a sly smirk in Anders direction.

Anders facepalmed. "Um, I just ordered some Bailey's from Tino, but a second round wouldn't be a bad thing."

"Yes!" Conner exclaimed. "Yes it would! No repeat performances!"

Veronica was having a bad day. Watching pretty boys make out might improve it.

"I'll buy you both a round if you'll kiss."

"No freaking way!" Conner blurted out.

"No frakking way!" Anders yelped.

Okay that? Was the cutest thing ever.

"I'm having a really bad day, guys. It would cheer me up."

And yes, she was totally head tilting.

Inexplicably, Conner was losing the will to protest.

"Round of drinks first?"

Anders reached over to thwap him across the back of the head. And yet somehow halfway toward doing that, he lost the conviction to do so and ended up ruffling Conner's hair instead.

Fear the power of the headtilt.

Veronica grabbed the bottle of Bailey's and filled two glasses. She even added umbrellas because it seemed like a festive moment.

Anders rolled his eyes. "Oh, good one, McKnight. You thought that was going to stop her?"

Conner gulped. "Yes?"

For the first time since she'd woken up in the middle of the night, Veronica laughed.

"He doesn't know me very well, does he, Anders?"

She shook her head at Conner.

"I was one of the organizers of the big Boykissy Event last semester."

"There was an event?"

Conner grabbed his Bailey's and drained it. Then he grabbed Anders's drink and drained that one too.

He was so doomed.

"Hey!" Anders complained, staring at his empty glass. "That was mine!"

He waved Tino over and ordered another round of Bailey's for each of them and an extra one for himself, and proceeded to down all three.

"Frak you, McKnight."

"Aw, Anders, don't you believe in foreplay? I think you should start with kissing," Veronica said.

"Chloe! Piper! Come here," she called, glad to have her former roomies for reinforcement.

Chloe looked up at the sound of her name and came over. "You rang?" she said, laughing.

"What's up?" Piper asked Veronica curiously.

"Conner and Anders are being shy," Veronica explained. "I bought them drinks for boykissy."

"Maybe you should add some glitter to their drinks," Piper suggested, smirking.

Cally peered over in the direction of the gathering.

This explained so much. So, so much.

"Did they take the drinks? Because if they took the drinks, then there must be boykissy. It's only fair." Chloe nodded.

Conner was in no way trying to hide the small forest of empty glasses behind his back. Nope.

"Nope," he said quickly, hiccuping. "Didn't take any drinks."
