"I am not sure," Sabriel said thoughtfully, smiling at both the compliment and the bouncing. "I seem to be nodding and smiling a lot."

Annette giggled, "That is very common for the first few days, or weeks, or..." She paused, twisting her lips. "Truth is, I'm still getting used to things around here. But it's all in wacky fun. Really. So our school was just destroyed by aliens, the point is we defeated them! We rock! Really."

"Who are you... or we... or this island at war with? I mean to say, who are the foreigners?" Sabriel asked, fully prepared for an answer she wouldn't understand but needing to ask the question.

"At war with?" Umm. "I don't think we are at war with anyone. I think those aliens were just nasty and wanted to mess up graduation. We didn't let them get away with it. We are awesome." She nodded.

"You've met your roommate yet? Your big sibling?"

"No? I don't have a roommate, and I haven't found my big sibling yet." Sabriel frowned in thought. "He or she is named Cindy MacKenzie. Do you know them?"

"Oh, well I'm sure they'll come looking for you soon." She said with an encouraging nod.

Then she smiled brightly, "Oh, Mac! She is great, you'll really like her. She is my roommates girlfriend."

"You're rooming with a boy?" Sabriel asked, blinking. She'd thought that was only the cabins...

"Uh, no. Not in the dorms at least, even though they are co-ed too. Out at the cabins I am rooming with several boys, my boyfriend included." Annette smiled.

Sabriel blinked again. "That's allowed? Won't the administration object?"

"Since the administration is the one to set it up? I don't think so. It's pretty fun. I mean there is plenty of privacy." Kind of. "So there is no need to worry and how come you don't have a roommate? I thought everyone did."

"...I don't know, but I don't," Sabriel said. She was rapidly changing her mind about Annette being 'normal'.

Annette was inwardly enjoying herself. Why? She wasn't sure, but if she wasn't careful she could really get into this teasing.

"Have you met any turtles yet?"

Sabriel paused, frowning. "Like Donatello? Or do you mean the small ones who don't talk?"

"Like Donatello. First time I've ever met a live, big, talking turtle. You?"

"The same. He's very nice though," Sabriel said thoughtfully.

"Yes he is. Very friendly. He the little brother of one of my cabin mates." she said, agreeing with with Sabriel.

"I haven't met any of the other turtles yet though."

"Me either. I think there are three of them. Donatello has two other brothers here with him. I hope to meet them all."
