Fandom High Welcome Picnic, The Park, All Day: Part II

School in ruins = picnic in the park.
Food, check. Nametags, check. Glitter, check. Sibling list, check.

[~~WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE.~~ Mini-OCD is done, woo! This is part two of the picnic, for general mingling. Part one is happening simultaneously here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g* Both posts are open to everyone.]

Annette liked John. John seemed to think and talk a lot like she did. Was that a good thing? She would have to decide later. "You mean besides run around as little kids?" She couldn't help it, she had to tease him. "Oh, and there is that time when our furniture came alive and talked to us and pushed us and totally acted up. Then there is the zombie band at Caritas, it's a lot of fun."

John laughed, "Good thing I brought my Tonka truck. Now, a zombie band I can get behind. Where's this Caritas place?" He liked the way this girl thought. Very sassy and smart. He hoped he could get her to take him to hear the zombies sometime.

"It's in town," she giggled at the Tonka truck comment. John had that humorous wit thing going on. Very cool. "And it totally rocks, John. They have karaoke as well. I've been known to sing a time or two," she admitted with a wry little grin. "Do you sing?"

John was grinning like a dork, but trying to smother it. Who knows what ended up on his face. "Karaoke, eh? I've been known to sing along badly with the radio on occasion. I could karaoke." He wondered if just because he'd never karaoked before didn't mean he couldn't, did it?

"It's not that hard. Just that you are doing it on stage and everyone is watching you." Annette couldn't carry a tune to save her life. She just didn't know it. "If you'd like to go sometime, I'd be happy to take you, show you around and stuff." Show him around a bar? Uhg. She could have smacked her forehead.

"Yeah, I like being shown around." John couldn't stop the flow of stupidity. "When does this karaoke happen?"

She nodded, understanding completely. "Every night, John. Caritas is open every night and every one of them can you sing if you like. Also? It is the only bar in town that doesn't card. Not sure if you drink or not." And Annette certainly wouldn't confess to having a beer or two if he totally didn't.

John was a silly drunk, but not a liar. "I've been known to, on occasion. It'd probably help with the singing bit, too." John wondered if they had any Cash in karaoke form. "What kinds of songs do you usually sing, Annette?"

She laughed and admitted since he did, "It definitely helps. I've had to have a few beers to get up there before. But it was fun and made things...funny." Yeah. "Umm, just whatever. I'm not particulary partial, John. What about you?"

He snickered at the idea of drunk singing. "I've not done the karaoke, Annette, but I bet I'd rock a few power ballads or some Johnny Cash."

[[ooc: Should I mention that John never asks people out outright? These things tend to just *happen* to him should you be interested.]]

She arched a brow, impressed. "Well then, I'll definitely have to take you just so I can hear one of these power ballads. You certainly have my interest on that, John." She smiled warmly. "Just don't get too close to the band. They are chained up but one never knows about these things."

[ooc: we'll just let them happen away then..*grin*..surprises are always fun to play around. And Annette likes to talk, if you haven't noticed by now. hee.]

"I promise won't take any unnecessary risks during karaoke. Other than singing, that is." John waggled his eyebrows. He thought this girl was pretty cool.

"Good to know, and while you're doing that, I'll try not to fall off my stool." Hey, it's been known to happen.

"So you are all settled in? I know the school isn't in tip top shape, but we're recovering from the alien invasion." Certainly she could get one buh expression out of him, couldn't she? Hee hee hee.

"I'm working on settling in. The alien invasion came as a bit of a surprise...but I've heard of worse since, so I'm trying not to worry 'bout aliens." He paused, thinking about aliens. "Are they still around?" he asked a little nervously as he'd never seen an alien. Other than those people yesterday from another world...who were basically aliens. Fandom was really complicated.

"Nope," she assured him with a quick grin. "The seniors defeated them. Everything is pretty much cool now. Save the influx of new students that I am having fun meeting." Yes, you included.

He was pleased to be assured the aliens were gone, but couldn't decide if Annette meant she thought the newbies were cool or uncool. "There are quite a lot of us newbies around." Now he was just making random statements of fact.

"Yes, yes there are." She tilted her head, wondering if he was picking at her, or with her, or just speaking generally, or... "Newbies are kind of fun. I met a turtle. And my fake little sister is a lady I am pretty sure of it. And I've met a few that are from way far away. One from some place called Twilight Town. Pretty cool sounding, uh?" Now she was just rambling. She couldn't help it. John was cute.

"Wow, and I thought my roomie putting up a magic wall in my cabin was cool." John was impressed by Annette's jabber, as it meant he didn't have to talk as much. "This might be rude, but do you have any...ah...special powers?" If it wasn't rude, it could've been taken as dirty the way he'd said it.

"A magic wall? Oh, I might need to see that, k?" Cause that sounded all kinds of cool. "Um, no. I think I'm just perfectly normal. Or as normal as one can be around here. I have no special talents I don't think. Course I'm a cheerleader and can do all kinds of bendy jumpy things ~~dirty?~~, if that counts?" Annette didn't think John was rude. Or did he mean totally something else?

She blinked, staring up at him, then she blushed. Wondering now.

"Next time Ronan puts one up, I'll call you over."

John wondered if he could sign up for cheerleading. Lots of pretty, bendy girls seemed to be involved. "Well, bendy jumpy things are always good, but I was really wondering about magical power-like abilities. Not that I expect everyone to have powers, I just like to be...aware." Wait, was Annette blushing? John was confused, as usual.

"Thanks, cause that would be great." She nodded, still blushing just slightly because she was confused herself. Maybe.

"They are. And John, you should totally try out for cheerleading. It's tons of fun. We have slumber parties, competition, glitter...lots and lots of fun! I have no magic abilities whatsoever but I'm sneaky as all crap." At least she thinks so.

"Slumber parties and a sneaky lady, eh? I'll have to keep my eye on you," John winked cuz her blushing was really cute. "Maybe I'll show up for try outs."

Annette grinned, "That's fine by me and please do, John. Show up and try out and you'd be amazed at how accepting we are. And Buffy? Our co-captain? She is great, you'll love her."

"Cool." John suddenly realized how long he'd been talking to Annette. "Listen, I've gotta be getting back to Jackalope. But, it's been a pleasure talking to you, Annette. Give me a call when you want to do that karaoke thing - I'm always up for a good time." John reached out to shake her hand again with a broad smile.

She nodded, grinning, "I will, John. Or you call me. I'm in the directory. It's been a pleasure talking to you as well. See you later!"
