Flag Football Game, The Park, Sunday Noon

It was the perfect day for a flag football game in the park. Lines had been handwavily chalked on the cold ground and would wash away in the next rain or snow. Posters had been handwavily put up to encourage everyone in Fandom to attend.

[ooc: fhfootball is the AIM chatroom for game planning! All football players are welcome!]

Adam caught the ball easily, making his way toward the end zone, hoping to score and avoid any Gold players along the way.

Karal had turned at his name, and was left blinking in confusion when no one threw anything at him.

"Oh! Go Adam!" he yelled. "Run!"

Karal hadn't been the only one confused by the fake out. Chad had been just about two seconds from charging after Karal before he realized, thanks to the distraction of the other tackle, that the ball had actually gone to Adam. He blinked, resituating himself for a moment, before it clicked in his head that if he didn't start moving now, he'd never get the flag.

Barreling after Adam, Chad started to feel like he wasn't going to catch up. He launched himself in a dive, hand out to snatch one of Adam's flag.

Adam glanced behind him, seeing Chad following him. If he didn't speed it up, Chad just might catch him.

At the last second, Adam managed to avoid the dive by swerving to the side and forward, landing in the end zone.

And that would be Chad, empty handed but with a face full of dirt, pouting a little into the ground for a moment. He thought he almost had that one.

If only they could tackle....

"Yay Blue!" Willow shouted. "Way to beat Gold and their totally double standard having coach with his players who started tackling even though he keeps moping about that supposedly being against the rules!"

Grunting and brushing himself off a little, Chad sulkily considered the fact that he really had to make up for that complete failure there. The next play was set, the ball snapped; Chad made for a brief fake-out before making a straightline charge down the feel toward the end zone. With a careful dodging of the Winchesters, who apparently no one bothered to pull apart for the next play.

Karal had no idea what got into him but, carried away by the excitement, he found himself running pell mell after Chad. As soon as he was close enough, he dove forward, trying to grab his flag.

It might look an awful lot like an attempted tackle.

There are days when Marco acts like a logical, sane human being. Today is not one of those days. He thought that Karal looked like he needed some help and went to try to either tackle Chad or grab the flag. It was hard to tell which, since he wound up leaping towards the boy. Or at least tried to leap.

Adam saw Chad take off and decided he should probably try and go after him. He figured Marco and Karal could use all the help they could get and made a beeline for one of Chad's flags.

Except it probably looked more like a possible tackle, as Adam dove for Chad.

"Noooo!" Evie shouted much more loudly than was really warranted, and sped up to intercept Adam. Or Marco. Or both, arms out, rushing as fast as she could to get in between Chad and the leapers and divers.

Adam hadn't expected Evie to come after him, which was why when he made a leap for Chad, he got Evie instead.

....Not again.

Chad could feel the rush for tackling him and attempted to speed up, thus saving any of his flag from being swiped. As to where that left everyone else trying to get them, well...He didn't care; he put his attention on reaching the end zone, oblivious of anything else.

Karal had no flags. But Karal did have a death grip on Chad's leg, and Karsites were known for their bloodyminded stubbornness at times.

Apparently clinging to legs while being dragged through the mud was one of those times. Ineffectual or not, he was determined to hang on.

Unaware of anything or anyone caught on his leg and flopping in the mud behind him, Chad hurried over into the endzone. The football went right into the ground in the typical celebratory gesture and Chad turned to see the carnage of faceplants like his own.

He found, instead, someone he thought might be Karal.

"Oh, Dios," he muttered, shaking his leg gingerly to make sure he was still alive. Had he held on that whole time?

Karal, who was muddy, bruised, and grinning like a loon, made an effort to let go. "Does it count for less since you brought me with you?" he asked hopefully, sprawling in the mud on his back.

It was going to be a bit before he was prepared to try standing up, and he was already filthy.

"Uh, no," Chad said, offering out his hand to help Karal up whenever he was ready. "...Sorry."

Whether he was apologizing for the dragging or for the full points he'd get, no one could tell.

Karal gratefully accepted the help and hauled himself to his feet, groaning. And dripping mud. "Sunlord, I'm going to be sore," he said cheerfully. "And I definitely must learn the rules."
