Flag Football Game, The Park, Sunday Noon

It was the perfect day for a flag football game in the park. Lines had been handwavily chalked on the cold ground and would wash away in the next rain or snow. Posters had been handwavily put up to encourage everyone in Fandom to attend.

"Hmm, that depends," he said. "Do I get sympathy or mockery?"

"In that case, I feel like Marsha Brady getting my nose broken by a football without even playing the game," he told her, not thinking she wouldn't get the reference.

She completely didn't. Maybe she'd been a student Jaina didn't know. And not at all the scariest incarnation of her grandfather in icon form ever created. "It's not broken, is it?" she asked, going the good girlfriend route.

"I'm not sure. Does it look crooked to you?" he asked and then thought better on that question. "Wait, can you even see it?"

"Not in detail, but I can make out blurry lines," she told him, squinting to see him better.

"On the bright side," he started, turning his head and seeing if he could wiggle his nose, "If I'm nasally disfigured for a while, at least you don't have to see it."

"It could be like a free nose job, leaving my nose better than it was before," he agreed, deciding that since he could wiggle his nose, it probably wasn't broken.

"I look forward to that," he said. "For now I'm thinking I should find some ice."

"We need to broaden your knowledge of pop culture," he said, smiling. "Then you wouldn't look at me funny if I asked you to be my Florence Nightingale."

"She was some famous nurse," he explained. "Completely hot, too." He didn't know that part for sure, but it sounded good.

"It's so nice to hear she was known for the important things," Jaina said dryly. "Get your ice. I'll make sure it stays in place. Or whatever nursemaids get to do."

"Holding the ice in place sounds like just the thing," John nodded, bending down to give her a kiss of gratitude.
