Graduation Brunch: The Park, Sunday, mid-morning to mid-afternoon

It was the Grads' Brunch in the park today, as the brightly coloured banner -- CONGRATULATIONS, CLASS OF 2008! -- indicated.

There were lots of tables and chairs set up in the park, under sails for shade, and long tables groaning under the weight of the food and drink. Not just traditional moddable brunch foods, but a wide selection of also moddable greek dishes and delicacies.

Coffees, teas, punch, juices and softdrink were only some of the also also moddable are you sensing a theme here? wide range of drinks.

Music played quietly in the background, the speakers hanging from the trees, and bocce ball and croquet had been set up. There was even space for dancing, a hard floor having been laid over the grass between the trees.

It may be the Grads' Brunch, but everyone was welcome! Come and congratulate the class of 2008!

[ooc: What it says up there! This is a picnic to celebrate the 2008 graduates and their guests, but it's open to all of Fandom.
Plz wait for OCD
OCD? We has it.]

"I still have no idea what you're talking about," Veronica said. "The only thing that I have due is my car inspection next month."

By this time, Parker as sure that Bel had gotten it wrong-- Veronica would definitely have reacted if she'd been worried about a baby. Nobody could be simultaneously pregnant and this dense. "As in a baby. Although it sounds like Bel got at least that much wrong."

"WHAT?!" Veronica yelled, jumping to her feet and looking for Bel. "He said I was PREGNANT?"

Parker couldn't help but laugh, and said, "He was sincerely concerned about you. Especially since you've picked Dick Casablancas to be your babydaddy, since Logan's in another dimension."

Why yes. She was thinking Bel needed his ass kicked. By proxy was just fine.

That clued Veronica in to why Bel might have thought she was pregnant. "Oh, hell," she said, rubbing her temple. "I called Dick a couple of months ago and told him I was pregnant. I was just... messing with him. Bel must have overheard that."

"Ahhhhh. And from such small misdeeds do huge mistakes grow." Parker chuckled and took another sip of her coffee. "Like I said, not truly my business... except that all three of you are my friends, and if someone was getting hurt, I'd want to know about it. Glad that's not the case." She raised her eyebrows. "Bel didn't mean to say as much as he did. He was wondering if it was normal for a human girl your size not to show at four or five months."

"I am going to kill him," Veronica declared.

"Goody." Parker grinned. "Tell him I said 'hi'. And to give Angel a call, if he wants sympathy."

Re: Tables and chairs

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh God," Veronica groaned. "He hasn't told Angel this ridiculous notion of his, has he?"

Re: Tables and chairs

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"I doubt it. They haven't talked in months." Parker's amusement had a harder edge to it now. "I attempted to verbally kick Bel's ass for that yesterday, but maybe I should've brought your taser along. If you have better luck in knocking sense into him, I'll count it a win."

Re: Tables and chairs

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"I will try to knock some kind of sense into him, don't worry," Veronica promised.

"Then a toast: to your nonexistent child, and good deeds done in its name," Parker said cheerfully, holding up her coffee cup. "May all future pregnancies--" Real or imagined, Veronica's or those of other friend's, "--end so well."

Veronica lifted her own coffee mug and clinked it against Parker's. "You know what's kind of amusing, apparently in some universe Dick and I are destined to have kids. Last weekend our son from another dimension showed up here."

Re: Tables and chairs

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oy. Now there's a thought." Parker made a face, then smirked, rolling her eyes. "I had no less than three phone calls from assorted nieces last weekend. Wyatt and Isabel's, Chris and Summer's, Anders and Phoebe's and Bel's, and Bridge and Xander's. And none of them grasped the concept of time zones."

"Aw, Auntie Parker is popular with the girls, huh?" Veronica asked, laughing at the mental image of Parker with flock of young followers.

Re: Tables and chairs

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course! I give them certificates for ice cream and ask them to dye their daddy's shoes pink and give them kittens in the middle of the night." Parker's smile turned mischevious. "Better to be an aunt, at least with my time and money. And I can't see you with Dick, but, hey. Weirder things have happened. To people we know!"

Re: Tables and chairs

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can't see me with Dick either," Veronica said. And no, she hadn't considered it even once in the last few months. Nope, not even a little.

"Oh, man. Remind me not to have my future kids spend too much time with you. You know, if I actually have them."

Re: Tables and chairs

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"And yet you went to prom with him?" Parker teased lightly. "And c'mon, what's the point of having a rich and indulgent friend, if not to give your kids things you have better judgment than to let them near?"

Re: Tables and chairs

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well... I went to prom with him because it was partially my fault that he and Annette split up and he didn't have a date," Veronica said. "And he's not a bad guy."

She shook her head though. "You know, some day you might have your own kids and then we would all get to return the favor."

Re: Tables and chairs

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, he's not that bad." Dick had been amusing enough, getting her and many other girls Valentine's Day gifts the year before. "And what did you do that split them up?" Or should she even ask?

Parker shook her head. "Not for a long, long, long long time. If ever." Three or four of her possible future kids were now impossible, the time for them past or the prospective fathers long gone. Catie could still happen, but... she really didn't see how. "And the world is probably better off that way."

Re: Tables and chairs

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Dick and I sort of... accidentally ended up hooking up over New Years," Veronica admitted. "He ended up telling Annette and they split up."

Re: Tables and chairs

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker gave her a deadpan look. "My. You have been a busy girl, Mars."

Re: Tables and chairs

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Veronica ducked her head, clearly embarrassed. "Yeah... things were a little bit... crazy there for a while."

Re: Tables and chairs

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Shaking her head, Parker held out her hands, palms up. "Hey. Not judging. Except on your good sense, because seriously." She smirked a little. "And possibly your taste? But then, we never did like the same guys, most of the time."

Re: Tables and chairs

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, Logan and I... yeah, you know our history," Veronica said. "As for Dick... well... there was a lot of tequila. Plus we were out in LA and things were weird because of all the Angelus stuff that had just happened."
