fandomtownies | The York Gallery; Wednesday [ 09/17 ] -- Exhibit Opening! 8pm onward.

The past few weeks of work were finally coming to a head, and Charlotte was both nervous and excited and getting herself worked up into a frenzy with making sure everything was perfect. She couldn't help feeling an overwhelming sense of satisfaction with the exhibit, though. The turnout wasn't huge, but nicely manageable and thankfully not small by any measure. Some of the work was a bit amateurish, but she had to admit to being pretty blown away by a few of the others.

By the time eight o'clock rolled around and the doors were open, the gallery was set up in a display of the pieces by artist, and the usual spread of treats and drinks were available in another area of the room. Charlotte, dressed in a vibrant red, milled around the gallery to make sure everything was in order and all the guests were enjoying the exhibit. She was also keeping an eye out for the artists of certain pieces, since she was very eager to potentially meet them.

The Community Showcase Exhibit was open!

Ms. Montenegro submitted two very intriguing (http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/8773/painting2dv7.jpg) abstract pieces (http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/6126/angelapaintingyi6.jpg).

In between her mingling, and taking in the other artwork around, Angela was loitering near her own couple of paintings.

Like almost any artist, she couldn't help wanting to see people's reactions.

It had been a while since Cal had really talked to Angela at all, but noticing her hovering by the pieces with her name on them seemed like a good chance to at least give the paintings an appraising look and offer, "Nice work."

Angela smiled at him. "Aw, thanks Cal!" she said.

"You here as an artist or an observer tonight?"

"Just an observer," Cal gave the lie easily with a small smile. "I feel like I'm becoming quite the appreciator of art coming to these things. Plus, there's free food." He lifted his little wine glass filled with just plain old punch and took a nice, affected kind of sip.

Angela laughed. "The free food seems to factor into everyone's decision to show," she remarked. Well, Cal's and Ichigo's at least, she might've been exagerrating a little.

"It's free food!" Cal said, laughing a little in light argument. "And looking at cool pictures. What's not to love?"

"I guess it depends on your view," Angela said after a moment. "But personally, I'm with you. This is so cool."

"So," Cal declared with an air of importance. He crosses his arms over his chest and narrowed his eyes critically at Angela's paintings, striking his chin. "Tell me a little about your art-vork," he said, complete with fake pompous European accent.

Angela looked behind her at the canvasses. "They portray my inner turmoil," she said seriously. "... And love of pretty colours," she told him.

"And turmoil?" he asked. "Of your love for pretty colors?"

"Exactly!" Angela beamed. "You're so insightful."

"What can I say?" Cal shrugged. "I told you, I'm just that much of an art appreciator."

Hannibal wandered over and peered at the paintings for awhile. "These are good. Just don't ask me to tell you what they mean. I'll fail."

"They don't really have meanings," Angela admitted with a chuckle. "Just as long as someone somewhere thinks they look good on a wall, I'm satisfied."
