fandomtownies | The York Gallery; Wednesday [ 09/17 ] -- Exhibit Opening! 8pm onward.

The past few weeks of work were finally coming to a head, and Charlotte was both nervous and excited and getting herself worked up into a frenzy with making sure everything was perfect. She couldn't help feeling an overwhelming sense of satisfaction with the exhibit, though. The turnout wasn't huge, but nicely manageable and thankfully not small by any measure. Some of the work was a bit amateurish, but she had to admit to being pretty blown away by a few of the others.

By the time eight o'clock rolled around and the doors were open, the gallery was set up in a display of the pieces by artist, and the usual spread of treats and drinks were available in another area of the room. Charlotte, dressed in a vibrant red, milled around the gallery to make sure everything was in order and all the guests were enjoying the exhibit. She was also keeping an eye out for the artists of certain pieces, since she was very eager to potentially meet them.

The Community Showcase Exhibit was open!

He chuckled. "Now that sounds more like an artist. At least I think so, I've only ever met one other." He paused, as bad memories surfaced and were pushed away. "You truly don't mind that I submitted it?"

"I wouldn't have shown up if I did," he lied, smiling. "I really should have submitted something on my own, anyway. I've got this really great one of Duke and Hanno, um, dancing..."

"Would you show me some of your other paintings sometime?" Karal asked, a vague idea forming in the back of his head.

"Sure," he said with a shrug. "You know you can come by whenever you want."

"The same holds true of you, you know," Karal told him. "There is always tea. Do you think you might have time next week? I may have a, a commission for you. Something very unique."

Andrew paused and thought, bringing his free hand up to his chin for dramatic effect. "I... might entertain your proposal," he said. "I don't come cheap, you know."

He nudged Andrew with his elbow. "Of course you don't, but I'm sure we can work something out."

Andrew had no idea where Karal was going with this, but he laughed, nudged back, and said, "I'll make sure my nozzles are clean."

Karal was just happy to be with his friend, and deeply relieved to have someone who he could trust to help with the puzzle Dean had set him. And a little bit confused about the nozzles. "I'm not sure if I will need you, yet. There's someone I have to talk to first." He held up a hand. "And I'm not being deliberately cryptic, I promise. The idea only just came to me."
